| MINI2 Newbie | i too am after an aftermarket filter or induction kit.....i spoke to amd today and they reckon that induction kits dont make much difference as the engine bay temps are so high.... anyone any thoughts on this? my mini cooper works s is good but not as good as my modified vx220...yet! chilli red cooper s works (s2677) with r90s wheels full body kit, jcw suspension, jcw manifold and 210 upgade!! and a brill number plate( see my call name!) |

![]() M2 Bapmaster | I went to AmD a few weeks back to get a power reading and they couldn't get a nice result because the intake temp was over 40 degrees C with the pipercross induction kit on. I have since switched back to the original airbox and according to my dad the car is much quicker know..(I haven't really driven it since) ![]() |

| MINI2 Newbie | oooops, forgot to say. mine is a cooper s. Because of the filters position, will the heat from the engine be a problem then? It looks like loads of people change their filter. It would be a shame to change it and find that it's actually bad for the engine. On the FTO people used to have heat shields fitted around the cone? would that help? |

Offline | hi there i fitted a pipercross induction kit to my cooper a few months ago it came with a cold air feed pipe which runs from the bottom of the engine bay to the underside of the filter so the filter always has a good supply of cold air it sounds awsome too!!! ![]() don't live life on the edge drive off it at 100mph |

Offline | hi M11NME .for my experience (if it carries any weight) sound is a huge improvement (nice whine from charger) as well as better top end breathing. i am useing a k&n from a seat ibiza 1.8t .just took off the lid on the air-box ,used a 2.5 " exhaust pipe at around 8 "long with a slight angle down into the bottom of the air-box (connected the pipe into the rubber hose and filter on the other end. easy as that...(no need to fork out more cash for a new filter ).by the looks of things this filter is bigger than the k&n that is meant for the cooper s.if you want my filter you can have it. i got a bigger filter that im gonna try to fit??? p.s. the filter takes in lotsa cold air.(i have driven the car and then lifted the hood to feel if the chromed end of the filter is hot , and it is cold as though it was on the outside of the car....... yeeeeeehaaaaaaa DAMN THIS THING IS QUICK |
