My MCS Nitrous Oxide installation.

Recently installed the M 7 Venom N2O kit. Got it through Peter Horvath at M 7. Customer service is outstanding. Technical service from Venom-Python Injection was stellar.
Don't have a photo of it but the computer module is mounted nicely in the big void under the steering wheel column.
Threading the wiring harness through the firewall was the biggest pain. Big hands and small holes aren't complimentary. Most nerve wracking part was drilling and tapping the intake plenum but it went like clockwork when the correct tapping tool was finally located in NJ and overnight mailed. (It's a 1/16" pipe thread for a 1/4" hole. Not particularly common around these parts. McMaster-Carr had it in stock.)
I have the green valve installed. Oh boy, son of a b, it is fast. Wicked fast. Acceleration is outrageous. Spinning tires in three gears is easy if you want to. 85-110 is so quick that you can't believe you're in a MINI. I think I'll wait until the snow tires are off to go up to the purple valve size.
Here's some pics of completed installation.

Injection valve is just below the intercooler cover. Drilled a 1/4" hole then threaded it to accept different size valves.

Solenoid w/ nitrous in and out lines. Braided line runs down through engine bay to boot and bottle. Hot wire goes directly to pos. battery terminal. There is a 20 amp inline fuse just behind pos. terminal. Orange wires go to fuel injectors. What you can't see: Wire to O2 sensor, wire to throttle body harness, two ground wires. The green wire goes to last fuel injector right side wire where there is constant power.

Bottle is mounted in the boot. Braided line runs through an existing rubber grommet and is zip tied to under-carrage.

On/off switch is mounted to the right of tachometer. Green and red lights indicate lean and rich conditions. Light will flash back and forth continually reading rich/lean. When the 02 sensor is warm enough the blue "status" light flashes very bright blue 5 times indicating that it's safe to lay down the smack. Nitrous will only activate if the switch is manually turned "on" and the computer module is reading that it's safe. Nitrous comes on at WOT and blue LED stays on while the juice is being injected.

In advance of certain comments: No, I'm not concerned about engine wear. The Venom system is quite bomb proof. AND, in the event of any "issues" and if I do blow something or wear it out prematurely, so be it. Parts are readily available and engines are quite repairable.
For $799- (no tax, free shipping and 12 month warranty from M 7) it's the biggest bang for the buck so far.

That is awesome Cape Cod MINI.

So what sort of BHP do you reckon you're getting with that?

Nitrous was something I looked at doing, but decided against, as the drive train on the Cooper really can't handle much extra power over the Works kit I've already got.

It was acceptable in the 80's

In answer to the hp gains. It is estimated that along with my 15% pulley and intake and using the green valve for nitrous I am in the 230-240 HP range. The green valve provides about 50-60 instant HP.
The great thing about the nitrous is the "instant on". What a rush! There is no guessing if there is a seat of the pants notice. This is so furious and in your face power.

I can see where I'll want to go to bigger fuel injectors so I can go to bigger nitrous injection for even more gains. Addictive, very addictive.

I'm hoping some of the other folks with nitrous will join in this thread. Where are you?

i have always had turbo cars..but have been intrigued by the nitrous

CCM, how long does the nitrous last? (how many WOT runs?)

and how expensive is it to fill the bottle?

and yes, Paul is definitely a good and fair man who runs the best board around in a very professional manner

The only real shame with these is you have to put the bottle somewhere, and there's not much room in the MINI. Apart from that they seem a real blast for sure!

Somewhere I saw a Photo-shop-job of a MINI with two tanks strapped to the roof! (because after all, you must have at least two tanks for the most power, right? Fast-n-Furious!)

CCM do you know how long the nitrous bottles last? i.e. How many shots you get?

Also when the bottle is empty how much does it cost to re-fill?

Thanks.

In response to red03miniS and LMB.

No, I'm not sure how long it'll last. Judicious use will certainly help but it's so difficult not to let it rip when some jar head in a Mustang GT is eyeballing your "cute" car. I'll try and find out how many WOT 1/4 mile runs could be expected from the bottle. That should be a good guage of consumption. I've been a tad concerned about not knowing when I'm going to run out of the juice. I'm shopping for a volume guage tomorrow. I've been told that an indicator that you are getting low in the bottle is a surging in power at WOT.
How much to fill? It's a 10 lb. bottle and costs $4 per lb. With tax it was $42-.
I understand that a 45 min. drive away is a place that'll fill at $2.80 per lb. but it's not worth a couple hours to save 12 bucks IMO.

That radar detector will be working overtime now then CCM..!! Where do you have to go to get an N20 fill - medical gas supply..? Industrial gas supply..? Ricey tuning shops..??
Seems like a volume indicator would be essential - you don't want Mr Mustang coming back at you after a couple of hundred yards..!
I have strange visions of a little red MINI shooting back and forth across the narrow Cape..! If only I had the skills to do a little flash animation or something like that!

Performance FX in Yarmouth is a few miles away. It's more of a V-8 american muscle type of place but they do like the MINI.
Interestingly the places you would think to go for a fill don't do it (BOC Gasses and the local Corp Bros. gasses)
