i am a great fan of the old mini with the fact that so many engine transplants are avaliable and is a great project to do on a weekend. but has anyone heard of a transplant for the new mini? it would be interesting to sqeeze a v-tec lump in or a vauxhall turbo.both are highly reliable and tuning them are easy and very effective i love my mini but i think the engine lacks character.

I suppose you could swap out engines but I think it would be tuff in the newer MINI because of all of the electronic crap, unlike the original...

For that much just build the snot out of the current motor.
Maybe later after a few years when people have run the crap out the cars and they're going cheap.
So far the current motor seems pretty reliable. The ECU may suck but the motor is Ok
