Map Sensor

Can anyone tell me if the Cooper S has a 2 or a 3 bar map sensor?

I've seen over 2000 mbar absolute, so I'm gonna say 2.5 or 3.0 bar.

I just took a look at the raw voltage at ambient (~1000 mbar absolute) and at idle (~15.5 in. Hg).

Ambient (1030 mbar absolute): 1.92 V
Idle (500 mbar absolute): 0.84V

If that relationship is pretty linear, I'd expect the MAP sensor to be a 2.5 bar sensor that will only max out when boost gets to about 22 psi of gauge pressure.

That should be just about where a 22% pulley puts it.

R U going to be the first Andy?

Not dumb at all, that's exactly what I mean. The MAP sensor is the black rectangle in the center bottom of this pic:

It is mounted right on the intake manifold.

Here's the stock boost for my MCS (compared to the stock boost for a 150-hp VW 1.8T):

there is a second pressure sensor hidden between the fuse box and the head under a bracket. It has a tube connected to the intake connector between the throttle body and the blower intake, this zone would read ambient-vacuum, but never >0psi.

What are you planning to do to get 7 more psi?

Cool.

I look forward to reading all about it. Twin-screw superchargers are supposed to deliver much better efficiency than Roots-type blowers.
