Offline | Just wondering, I'm getting my Cooper lowered in about a week, with Eibach lowering springs. I've also replaced the runflats with 17" Toyo T1S Proxes tyres. I have SS, not SS+. After lowering, in real-world terms, how will my Cooper compare to an identical Cooper that hasn't been lowered, but has SS+? How will the handling and ride-comfort compare? ie., which would be the better? ![]() Mark |

Offline | Helping! ![]() Eibachs, seeing as they also lower the centre of gravity, angle the rear wheels in slightly, and judging from my test drive (and also test drive of a Cooper S) handle FANTASTICALLY well! ![]() |

Offline | Yeh! I am more than happy with the Eibachs theres a few of us on mini2 with them and not heard of any neg coments, the ride is a bit more harsh but nothing ott, performance is greatly increased and the look of the car greatly increased too, If my memory is correct the Eibachs lower the cooper 30mm all round 10mm more than the S. Offline | And they also get rid of the rake (slant) don't they, as they lower the back by a bit more than the front? ![]() Bring on the Eibachs then. Now where's that Christmas money... BTW. Any excessive tyre wear over stock? |

Offline | Too early to tell on tyre wear at the moment apparently theres a posability of inner tyre wear over the outer of the tyre on the rear, time will tell have not noticed anything yet.. The car sits great on the road not to sure on the rake though... |

Offline | What are the spring rates of the Eibachs? If they are too much higher than stock you may need better shocks. If you go too low you will induce too much negative camber and can effect tire wear, then you may have to get adjustable control arms. As for out handling a SS+ car, the suspension was designed as a system (same for the non SS+) so if you start changing componets of the system, you may upset the balance that was engineered into the system. For example on a Miata, lowering the car takes away the ability of the suspension to create dynamic camber, forcing an owner to run higher static camber. |
