Offline | Intake tube from ram ait to the lower air box...questions Ok, i don't want to pull mine out just yet, but the stock plastic peice just bothers me a LOT!! So, what i'd like to do is take it out, and have a local shop here make a new tube without all the silencers in it out of alluminum tubing. My only question is; how does the tube connect to the lower airbox? Ohh and this is for a MCS. thanks guys! |

Offline | The issue of the water drain can be fixed very easily, i'll just make a tiny hole in the bottom of the airbox if there isn't one there already. And i guess i'll just have to pull out the lower airbox and take a look at it. Remember, where there is a will, there is a way. In the worst case sanarrio i'll have to cut of the part of the lower airbox where the plastic tube connects, and i'll epoxy or fiberglass a new mounting point. We'll see what happens, i'll rip it all out 2morrow, and go to the shop... ![]() |

Offline | One benefit is that it has a higher insulating factor then aluminum will, and so close to the engine, you could be adding unwanted heat. I think it will look cool, but just want to make you aware of this. Thanks Dan Pilo Racing Pilo Racing www.piloracing.com Intakes, Ignitions, Heads, Superchargers and more... stop on in |

Offline | Andy@rosstech and others did some testing to see what pressure losses occurred throughout the intake tract. I think their analysis concluded that there were very nominal pressure drops and that mods to the intake tract did not really impact performance much.. Mayve some big honking funnel stuck in front of the car might supercharge the supercharger, thru the stock airbox, so I'm eager to read the results of your effort. However, most aftermarket suppliers open or replace the filter assembly with an open filter which rules out that concept. The Alta allows air to be drawn, not pushed, from cowl area which I believe testing showed to have positive pressure. Research archives. You should allso be cautious about possible "hydrolock" issues with the aforementioned funnel concept. |
