Offline | Has Anyone Dyno'd a K & N Typhoon on and MCS? Hello everyone! There is so much written on these forums about air intakes, but I can't seem to find any good info about the K & N Typhoon intake. Has anyone done a dyno on this particular mod? Has anyone installed this one on an MCS? Any feedback would be great. Nick |

Online | The Typhoon looks but since it's exposed to more underhood heat, I wouldn't think that the performance gains are as good as the heat shielded intakes (Alta, Madness, Mania and Pilo). |

Offline | under hood temp. Him MINIAC, I don't think the under hood temp means a whole lot, unless you spend a lot of time sitting still. Most cars, and in particular the Mini (by design) will equalize under-hood temperature to ambient once under way. There have been quite a few tests (on these forums) that show how under-hood temp drops almost immediately to outside temp once the car gets going, so I think all the talk about so called "cold air" and the importance of those minimal shields is nonsence (no offense). K & N probably has the largest R&D team of any intake manufacturer, so I doubt that they would omit such a critcal part of the equation if it was important to boost gain. At the same time however, I'm pretty disapointed that they don't dyno the cars they make these kits for (they just leave people in the dark and depend on their brand to sell the parts. Do you have an intake installed, and what do you think of it. I'm personally not looking for more noise (especially SC whine which is already ample). My exhaust is already about as much as I can tollerate for 3hrs/day on the highway. thanks |
