Offline | Help me on Pipercross In. kit pls. Hi all Just wondering if anybody can help me out here, i'm no genius with cars so hopefully someone can clear my head... i wanna get this Pipercross induction kit but i don't know much about it... there are two issues im concerned about a)warranty- after i've put it on, i can replace it before a service so they won't know i've modified anything, but a friend of mine said that you have to cut or change some kind of pipe/hose so the service people will know something has been changed (i've read the other post on how to fit)??? Therefore the warranty might be voided, is this correct and will it be easy to refit the original? cos a friend of mine will be fitting it for me if i get it. b)is it really worth it? i know there won't be masses of difference, only a nicer sound, but is it really worth it, cos that friend of mine said he actually recommended an air filter instead (they are the same thing aren't they???) thanks for reading this, any help would be much appreciated ![]() |

![]() M2 Bapmaster | I'm not sure if you need to cut anything when I go to work tommorrow i'll look at the instructions as I left them there. As far as I am aware an air-filter is not the same as an induction kit. The air filter just replaces the original BMW one in the air box, there may be a change in noise but no where near as much |

Offline | Heres the deal, 1. Stock replacement Pipercross filter, Just open the air filter box and drop it in. Easy 2. The Pipercross air intake system, Removal of the factory air box necessary, not hard just unbolt it. Nothing permanent. 3. The Pipercross Carbon Fiber Viper air intake kit involves removing part of the stock air feed pipe to route the new cold air feed line. Offline | So long as you have a basic toolkit and half a brain the job is easy although the instructions are crap. Just undo a few bolts take out the air box and fit the Pipercross kit in its place. If anyone wants a hand just send me a message and i'll be happy to help. |

![]() M2 Bapmaster | I didn't fit it myself, ABP the people I bought it off fitted it. Although it is apparently quite easy to fit as Daxler says if you have have a brain you can do it. My problem is I don't have much confidence in my ability to fit things properly so for my own piece of mind I got ABP to fit it. Mark ![]() |

Offline | Re: piperx kit just do it PBN- it is a beast! i was playing with it yday and from the outside the car sounds like a motorbike! no serious performance upgrade im afraid but it is definately worth it so simply to install, i mean even i could do it- straight swop for air box ![]() piperX u should be paying me for advertisement ![]() |

Offline | You don't have to do any tuning as the ECU ajusts itself to the increased air flow. I think its worth doing from a phycological point of view if nothing else. Before you fit it though you may want to do some research into other kits which can get more cold air to the engine although these are garanteed to be harder to fit. I've fitted it and I love it!!! Just took the car in for a service and it took me 10mins to put the old air box back on and believe me i'm no mechanic. go on do it you know you want to. ps I agree with 12000rpm where's my comission for this PiperX?? |

Offline | talking about retuning, daxler have noticed any difference with the engine??? its a bit hard to describe and it might only be me but i have noticed that if for example i left it in gear after a corner, it would kangeroo when i take my foot off the accelerator (only tiny, tiny bit though) and im sure it wasn't like that before any clues??? |

Offline | Can't say i've noticed that at all sorry! I do use Shell Optimax a lot though don't know if that may have made a differance - Can you give me any further description on what exactly you feel I know its a hard question because its just different! If you are in any doubt take it off and drive around for a few miles to see if it goes away - I'll give it a go round some corners tonight and see if i can replicate the problem! i'll get back soon. |
