Offline | MC Intake and Exhaust Comparison Hi. I just bought a used MC 02 and I've searched on the net and on mini mania and a few other sites for the intake and exhaust combo's for this car. I'm interested in anyone's input on how much HP they get or have and which intake and exhaust they have. I have read that with the helix exhaust and intake together you get an 8 hp increase on helix13.com, however I am looking for the best combination in the two for the HP increase. Thanks!! |

Offline | Hi preciousgem, Have a look at my review further down in this forum, its for the magnex exhaust really, but it was done taking into account the typhoon induction kit i've also got installed. 8bhp, IMO i think you get more with the magnex and typhoon, it definately feels like more. i always reconned on about 4-5bhp for the typhoon and the magnex promises a 10% increase in power and torque (11.5bhp!!!!), i dont think it delivers quiet that but i bet its not far off. Good luck in your search Pubert |

Offline | I recently installed the rspeed exhaust and the Pro MINI intake (both available at rspeed.com). I have no idea about HP gains but the quality of the parts is very nice and I am very pleased with the sound of the car. I like the Pro MINI intake because it actually brings in cold air from outside into the filter. |

| MINI2 Newbie | Sorry if this topic has been posted before, but I'm a newbie here. Any other adivce on which intake to get for my cooper? I've been shopping for an intake forever, and still am not sure which intake is the best. What are everyone's recommendations? |

Offline | I think it depends what you are looking for your intake to do. If it is sound you are after, you can get pretty much any intake with a cone filter and it will provide a nice sound. For performance, the Pro MINI is the only one I have seen that actually brings in cold air from outside of the engine compartment. That's why I went with it. But it ain't cheap. |

Offline | I have installed the Promini intake and I love it ... I ordered mine from Outmotoring.com and it costed me $300 CAD for it with shipping and everything. I believe it delivers around a 5hp gain but not exactly sure. Great sound though, but make sure you mount it low!! Mine scraped the top of the hood... not to bad but it was despressing ![]() |

Offline | I have never heard or seen the typhoon. Is it a cone filter? I know K&N make quality stuff. The difference you will find is the cold air intake on the Pro MINI kit. I don't think the K&N has it. |

Offline | Well, heres the problem with the answer to that question: I installed both the RSpeed exhaust and the Pro MINI intake on the same day, so I never ran the car at all with just the intake. But the car definitely seems to pull better at lower RPM's and it roars at 4k and above! Sorry I can't speak more to just the intake, but I got both the exhaust and intake at the same time and it never occurred to me to run it for a while with just the intake installed. Looking back I wish I had, just to compare it with and without the intake and then with and without the exhaust. |

Offline | I am not sure on exact hp figures, but I did notice a lot better response. I noticed most of the change when in the higher RPMs (3.5+) and made my MINI WAY more fun to drive and people noticed it more ![]() |
