Short Shifter: To do or Not to do?

I am considering purchasing a short shifter for my '04 MCS. Now, the question is that since I dont even HAVE my car yet, I was wondering if other people think that this is a worthwhile mod.

I would just wait to get the car and decide if I want it or not, but that would require me to take the newly installed exhaust back OFF the car to install the ss kit.

So should I spend the $50 for the SS or save it for pizza and beer?

IMO. If you're getting the $50 add on bit it's barely worth the time and effort.
Go ahead and buy the whole arm like a ProMINI/B&M kit.
Should be out for the '04 very soon.

I have one on my '02 and really like it.

Why is it barely worth it? I would get the Helix shifter, which has a greater reduction in throw that either the B&M or the Promini while also retaining the normal height. However, its only $50 compared to the ones youve just shown :\. Whats the difference? Also, have you heard anything about Alta's?

I got the alta one. It's adjustable from 0% to 45%!
Id also get the full short shifter kit (as i have allready)
It's no problem at all to fit as long as you are ok with taking the exhaust off?
But yes if your going through the trouble of the add on bit you may as well do it the right way with a ProMINI/B&M kit or the Alta
Either way theyr all

Like Silver Bullet said you have to do most of the work, although honestly changing the shift arm out is definitely hard that just adding a nub to the end, so go ahead and do the whole thing.
To me the advantages are
You now have one machined piece. It's stronger, cannot seperate or come loose
With the Alta you have adjustability(wasn't around when I bought mine or I may have gotten one)
Looks very nice
You have the option of installing solid bushings.

Like I said though, this is just my opinion and the reason I went with the full stick.

That's one of the short add-ons I was talking about. A perfectly fine product.
I just prefer the whole stick.
Looks nice, uses the Whelan or aftermarket threaded knobs.
Look how pretty.

Another advantage of the B&M is that it requires no modifications to the dust cover.

Alright, thanks for the input. Ill wait until Alta comes out with theirs for the 04, even tho I wanted to get this done at the same time I changed my exhaust.

Post some pics when you're done.
Ilike a lot of Alta's stuff and I'd like to know how this goes.

I'll be sticking with mine though.
