Offline | how can mini s shoot fire? I'm wondering how can you make a mini cooper s shoot fire from the exhaust. i've seen it done on other cars. it's not those "flame thrower" type kits that require a spark in the tailpipe plus sending unburnt fuel. kinda like the picture http://www.mini2.com/forum/attachmen...id=43940&stc=1 |

Offline | Sticking a spark plug in the exhaust will do the trick. Connect it to your battery and it'll ignite the unburnt gases.Kits can be bought giving you a switch on the dashboard. Global Moderator ![]() |

Offline | No way, that's the rice rocketeer's way. You want flames, get a straight exhaust, like a previous post said, not cat converter. Of course, you'll never pass emissions, but you'll get the flames, not to mention an out of this world exhaust note. |

Offline | so i would be running rich for the unburnt gas to be present within the exhaust then. and no cat. i did find something interesting on this though. it's called a REV Limiter by BEE R. http://www.takakaira.com/performance/main.html hmm..a quote from the site. The visual effect of having fire spitting out from the exhaust muffler every time there is a rev cut when the REV LIMITER is installed is not guaranteed by Bee Racing. This is due to the fact that fire would only result during high engine revving, and when the exhaust muffler is warm up, and also when the vehicle exhaust system is without a catalytic converter. Basically, the unrestricted vaporized fuel supply when ignition is cut off is lighted off when it mixes with the air from the engine air intake in the hot exhaust system. The hot temperature from the exhaust system is the catalyst that ignites the air-fuel combination in the absence of the ignition sparks. might try it when my warranty wears out. 600 miles to go...... thanks for the help everyone. |

Offline | this does look good thou, and although wiring a sparkplug to your exhaust is considered 'rice' its merely helping your cause, u'd still av to run without cats. its bad wen u wire up a bottle of butane in your boot to you tailpipe then try an get flames!! (seen it done) now thats rice! 15ft flames from a nova 850cc!! ![]() ![]() HATED BY MANY...LOVED BY FEW...RESPECTED BY ALL |

| MINI2 Senior | As said you would need a free flowing exhaust. Still, they'll always be pathetic next to turbocharged with their wisping flames. My friend has a Cosworth with an anti lag system, so it spits flames all the time like a rally car. Fantastic. My Clio didn't have a de-cat though, i had a different ECU which allowed overfueling and so flames.. -Rob |

Offline | A few years ago (longer that I care to mention) I was speaking to a chap whose wife did not like him driving at 70 on the motorway and if he did whislt she was in the car she would turn the engine off (I believe it was a Humber if anyone out there can remember such things)- if the exhaust was hot enough the surplus petrol would ignite in the expansion box! Must have been quite interesting if you were driving behind him- only problem was that it blew the expansion box up and he had to buy several new ones. |
