Powerflow custom exhaust- help wanted

I have booked the cooper in for a Powerflow cat-back.

I can spec any number of silencers (obv. within reason!) and whatever tail pipe i want.

can anyone who has a powerflow please tell me how many silencers they have and how loud their car is?

i'm looking for an exhaust which just turns the volume of the mini up a bit. like turning the volume dial up from 3 to 5. (with the TVR being at 10!!) i have a 57i already.

I think a 4.5inch 'jap style' tail is my preference. looks like the play mini pipe but a wee bit wider.

thanks

all of the playmini systems I have heard on the mini are just single boxes and they aren't that loud at all really but defo noticeable and not too intrusive at all

no idea if that helped

I had a S/S cat-back exhaust fitted by the the Powerflow agents at Queensferry nr Chester. From speaking to them they can customise the exhaust to YOUR requirements, one box or two, and make it as loud or quiet as you want.
Even with boxes without any baffles they can vary the noise by changing the direction of the gas obsorbtion holes in the boxes, I understand that gas flow through the exhaust is either clockwise or anticlockwise and if the holes in the oxes are in the same rotational direction it escapes faster and the exhaust tends to be louder- conversely it will be quieter if the holes are in the opposite rotaional direction.
Does this make sense to you?

Ha just replied to your post on cooper forum! (red un)

yeh, that is kinda a help. i'm just not totally sure if i need a silencer in the front pipe or not. normally i'd say not, but at the moment i'm doing a couple of longer journeys every week and don't want to be blasted too much.

does your playmini have a silencer in the front pipe?

david,
yes that makes sense. i spoke to julian who's making/fitting my exhaust and he said that they can alter it. I understand the gas flow part from past experience with race exhausts.

what set up does your exhuast have? how loud is it? and did you notice much difference in power? (all questions there!)

nope just a straight pipe to the back box

i'd say just go for the backbox with no front pipe and try it! i'm pretty sure that'll be fine for you!!

Two boxes in same places as standard, both straight though with "straight line holes", pipe is circa 2.75" diameter from front to back. Noisewise you can tell it is nonstandard but is quiet at tickover and only show its true colours at higher revs, would summarize as grumble----growl----roar----bellow- with popping on the over-run.
Car has Phase 2 Superchip with K & N panel filter- I would definately say that the exhaust does improve the power, it also improves flexibility and will pull from 30 in top without any problem.

Hey Guys
David just a few ques about your exhaust.
I am thinking of getting an aftermarket exhaust for my MC, I am still undecided on what exhaust to get, and was considering going down to powerflow in queensferry as I don't live too far away from there. Would you recommend them ? how much does it cost for a custom exhaust ? I am looking for something not too boyracer ish ( even though i am! ) and is fairly quiet on the motorway, most of my travelling ( 60 miles a day) is the motorway and I don't want to be deaf by the time I get anywhere !
Cheers in advance.

Give Kingsley Wright a ring at Roton Engine Developments Ltd on 01244 536555- you will find that they have a web site if you search under Roton- I suspect that price is in the region of £400 for cat back system but price would depend on your requirement- they are very professional and will give you exactly what you. As a matter of interest thay have produced a rotary valve head which sounds VERY interesting- should produce exceptional power and smoothness.

Thumbs up powerflow exhaust!

ive had my car fitted with a powerflow exhaust and it sounds great! they can make it to ur requirements, i got a 4inch slash cut jap style exhaust with full s/s pipe and it looks great aswell! highly recommend it, it also comes life time gurantee aswell. my exhaust had lodged to the right due to having the manifold fitted, it caused my exhaust to rattle against my bodykit, went back to powerflow straight away and they fixed it within half an hour!!

great customer service!!
