Offline | 1/2 the car on Eibachs, 1/2 on Spax??? I recently got my MC lowered on eibachs but now ive put on bigger wheels, its not looking quite as good. I certainly feel the rear could be lowered even more. Therefore my question: Is it possible to have the rear of the car done again on Apex (30mm) or possibly even spax (35mm) while the front remains on eibachs?? Or even better still, ( i know this may not be the best option) but can you cut the springs? Thanx ![]() |

Offline | DO NOT cut the springs! I had a friend do that once (mind you once!) because he wanted a "lower" looking car / better handling car. Not sure how this is in other cities, but in Phx, AZ, for some reason, they like to put a peak in the center of the intersection (say a few inches taller than all four crosswalks. I can only assume this is for the rain (although it never rains in Phoenix!) to run off from the intersection. While my friend was happily motoring through an intersection at a decent speed, he hit this peak and took a little bit of air. (this sounds really bad, but when I say air, very very minimal, I would guess his speed at about 55mph (88 kph for our friends outside the US). But it was enough for the shock to expand under the weightlessness of the car and the "shortened/cut" spring to shift out from being under the strut/shock. So, it got real ugly after that and not necessarily something I wish to go into... But, my point (sorry it took so long to get to it) was never, ever cut a spring. It not only ruins the ride quality (bouncy, bouncy, bouncy) but you could end up with a "situation" as I have mentioned above! Hope this helps! |
