Intercooler upgrade and Insurance

I'm particularly thinking of the GRS intercooler, but this applies to any intercooler upgrade - does anyone have an idea of how much the upgrade will affect insurance? I need to phone my insurance company, but can't do it until the weekend and was wondering if anyone has already tried?

unless you want it insured by the insurance company (for accidents etc), you don't need to tell them.

Well -that will be the difference across the atlantic!. If you have an accident/loss here the insurers will go through your car with a fine tooth comb. If the car differs from the insured spec then they will not pay a penny. ie chipped ECU, spoiler, side skirts. This includes liability for third parties
they expect to be told about any modification and will load the policy accordingly eg they want £95 extra for my JC works kit, £130 for side skirts etc.
Many cars specced in the US would just not be insurable here in the UK

Some insurers like liverpool victoria only increase your premium for upgrades that increase your engine capacity. Thier not the cheapest, but not far off usually, and all they ask is that mods are recorded by you, with receipts and fitting receipts/pics/dates.
