Smile New to MCS modding, please help.

Hi All,

Im very new to MCS modding as I don't even have mine yet, I will be picking it up on the 28th Jan and can't wait.

Anyway I am looking to mod it a little and just wanted to see what your opinions were on what I had chosen so far... This is what I would like to do...

GRS Intercooler
17% SC Pulley
Induction Kit (Not sure which yet im open to ideas)
MTH Software

Ideally im lookking for anywhere between 200 and 220bhp will this take me anywhere close to this figure and also are there any other items you think I should add to improve this like a bigger TB or are there parts I shouldn't add and swap for soemthing different? Alternatively should I maybe consider just getting the work done for myself by companies such a West Tuning etc?

Any advice you can give me on this would be great

Thanks a lot
Jamie

Best thing to do Jamie is to look through all the threads on mini2 and make your own mind up, there are so many options now with so many tuners about that you will without doubt get a bias response with what your asking, most tuners offer 200bhp up-wards some with TUV approval some without, at the end of the day the choice is yours...

Good luck with what you go for..

Jamie,

If I were you I would speak to Roland at GT tuning. If you get GT tuning's phase 1 package which includes more than most tuners' offerings, this should give you roughly 210bhp straight off (at a very reasonable price of 595+VAT IIRC). With the GRS intercooler, larger throttle body (again GT tuning have one now which is what I am running now) and a GT tuning CAI you should see power northwards of 220bhp no probs.

Roland is active on here under the screename of roland2003. Give him a ring on 01258 455545 if you want.

I used to have a BBR220 conversion but changed altogether because I was suffering really really bad belt slippage after 18,000 miles (smells like burning tyres in the cabin under load!) and my car had several unwanted driveability issues, such as slamming me in the back when I got off the power suddenly (i.e. after an overtaking manouvre). My car now has the GTT phase 1 package and drives better than it did the day it left the factory, plus it feel slightly more torquey. No belt slip either because GTT uses a 17% pulley versus a tiny 20% reduction pulley on the BBR conversion which in itself can provide problems.

All in all there are many choices out there. I would recommend getting an entire 'tuning' package for sake of quality, integrity and a little piece of mind.

Hope that helps,

Henry

Ray West is an excellent engineer, he tuned my car, and I'm very impressed with the performance, GT Tuning are getting a good reputation too.

You many want to consider a Milltek Exhaust and more importantly a Milltek manifold, as there is definitely a power gain once these are fitted, and the sound is superb

If you're not lucky enough to be getting a LSD from the factory, you'll be needing one when you get all that extra power.

Whether it's leaving the line or coming off a turn, smoking one tire may impress the kiddies, but it won't be getting the job done.

Expect to pay big bucks just for the install. Depending on the type the diff will run ya 300 to a 1000 bucks.

Miniac I'll atempt to put a picky up of the new CAI called GTT 'Cold Ram Induction Kit'
next week, there are about 20 brand new products which will be released within the next
month or so. As you probably know we are coming on board with Mini 2 as a sponsor
so hopefully can have some interesting (and friendly) threads going soon.
Best Regards Roland Gt Tuning
