Offline | New Mini modifications Hi everyone...I'm new to this forum...a Was wondereing if I could have some advice about enhancing mini performance. I'm thinking of ordering a mini cooper S convertible I'm not sure whether to add the works kit or to have it tuned by companies such as AMD. Does anyone have any reccommendations or experiences as to what may be best. Are modifications detectable by Mini when given for a service ...? IWould be grateful for any advice as to which is best. Cheers, Omy (Newbee) ![]() |

Offline | Hi, and welcome to Mini2! I'm not an expert - I'm sure somebody who is will answer your question but at least with the works kit there is no worry with the warranty being voided. There's also an engine tuning forum on here, and a specific cooper s forum that can offer help as well. Good luck, and the cooper s is an excellent choice of car! Lawrence |

Offline | MINI can detect anything if they want to look for it. The only upgrade that won't void your warranty is the works one, however a few of the other companies do offer their own warranties. The works conversion will probably add the most value when it comes to sell it on too. |

Offline | Welcome There is a seperate performance section which it will take you days to assimilate. But The MCSC is a great car. I put the works kit on but it is expensive. Many people have had kits with a similar performance increase for £1000-£1400 with an ECU upgrade and supercharger pulley change (BBR, GTT, AMD, GGR). People like Graham Goode Racing claim their kit would be unlikely to be detected at a routine service. Others such as a cheap ECU upgrade can be reversed prior to routine servicing and when combined with a pulley change would again escape superficial attention. Ultimately GGR said that if my gearbox went they would suggest I get my car towed to them for them to reverse their upgrade prior to taking it to BMW. Ultimately the easiest option is the JCW one but it does cost £3.5k. I think it's money well spent but may well push the cost of your car the wrong side of £25k. |
