United-Kingdom Tuning ?

Hi everyone, I'm very new to the mini forum.

Today I just ordered a cooper S convertible !! I still can't belive I did it . Its my first mini. I'm a little concerned about the lack of power and was considering the cooper works kit addition, I'm tempted by alternative tuners but am afraid to lose my warranty at this stage. Was wondering if anyone knew what difference the Works makes to the average fuel consumption ? (mpg). During my test drive I couldn't help but feel that it should feel a little quicker. Does it make a considerable difference ? I
cheers

Congrats with your order! Don't forget to post your pics here when the time is there!
The works fuel consumption is about the same comparing to the standard. There are kits however that lower the fuel consumption when driving in 'cruise mode'.
I think you s will be powerfull enough, although the convertible is problably heavier. I would suggest to try the standard first a few months, you can always tune your car at a later stage.

Thanks for replying Rene ! Am gonna take my time running it in and then just see how it goes. My last car was an Audi TT with an APR remap to 265BHP. I really hope I'v made the right decision to switch to the mini cooper S. I'v just always been a bit concerned about the lack of performance compared to what I'm used to. I just hope its fun to drive. (I can hardly remember the test drive !) cheers

You have defo made the rite choice imo

think u'll find yer Mini is quicker or (as quick) A to B than yer TT even in std form

if yer bothered about straight line performance tho then u have kinda bought the wrong car if u get me

btw welcome to Mini2

edit --> just noticed summut.....how come yer bothered bout MPG when u have just come from a 260bhp 4WD tank??

Surprisingly with my TT, I found that fuel economy was quite good. The remap actually increased the extra urban fuel economy, especially in 6th gear, was getting around 32-33 mpg but obviously that thats driving it fairly steadily. Most of my drving tends to be on the motorway. Its just that I want to have plenty of acceleration on hand though, if needed. Was looking into reports on what the works package does does to the cooper s fuel economy and it seems to vary from one report to another. One report read that you only got 16mpg, which seems far too low even for many sports car standards. Think I'm just gonna stick eith the standard S for know and then just see how it goes.
I decided to convert to mini simply because I prefer the shape ! and I think the cabin has a cool retro feel to it. I guess theres always gonna be aspects of my old car I'm gonna miss....but hopefully new adventures gained
