GT Tuning Oil Catch Can - First Pics!

Hi Guys here are the first pics of the production version of our MCS oil catch can.
The can is purpose designed from scratch for the MCS,
and bolts directly to the chassis using the existing earthstraps lower fixing, keeping the
tank low and the (included ) pipes short & neat. It features a neat screw in oil level dipstick, baffle plate to prevent oil mist getting past the tank , and guaze lined can to further prevent oil sloshing . It also features a drain plug, preventing removal / dismantling to empty. The lid, dipstick and drain plug all have 'o' ring seals,,which prevent misty oil stains appearing and spoiling the hand mirror polished finish. The construction is cnc turned cnc milled and fabricated in aerospace spec alloy. I will add some fitted pics tommorow. For those who have already ordered this product, they will all be despatched
early next week !
Best Regards Roland Gt Tuning

Hi Roland, Can you explain (for us not so technical folk) what are the advantages of fitting an oil-catch can?

No problem. Without an oil catch can (occ),a certain amount of oil is carried in the air
through the recirculating breather system back through the inlet ,entering just upstream of the supercharger. This causes 2 problems;- 1) It coats the inside of the intercooler with oil, reducing its capability to cool the passing air charge (& makes the rubber boots slip) and 2) this oil enters the combustion chamber which then mixes and burns with the fuel reducing the octane of the mix. This means pinking/ knock /detonation will occur earlier.
-this is bad news for power & puts engine at great risk if severe.
Our tank connects in line with the hose that runs from the pcv valve at the left end (viewed from front) of the cam cover ,to the grey rigid plastic hose. New multicarburant hoses are included which dont turn into marshmallow consistency like the OE hose does. I still cant believe they used the type of hose they did for oil&vacuum situation.

Hi Roland,

Looks like a nicely designed and well made piece. I'm looking forward to seeing it fitted, and was wondering about the price and availability in the US.

Cheers,
Brian

Fitted Pics As Promised

Fitted very well, with no rubbing or kinking of pipes. We also removed wheel arch to check with bonnet closed. With 'late engine mount' cars (like ours), you just rotate the lower end of the earth strap through 90 degrees. Early cars dont even need that.

Wow!

Now that is a seriously tasty looking piece of kit and looks superbly crafted as well (as I am sure it is).

Gotta love those brakes as well

Thanks guys, we will be giving it (and other products) some final testing on the race track on 6th June at Castle
Combe. Initial tests indicate less inclination to 'pink' for a given advance curve & fuel octane.

It will come with instructions, but is v.simple ;-remove the 13mm nut that holds lower end of earth lead to chassis, rotate end of lead 90 degrees ,so lead is facing outwards
(instead of forwards), fit OCC over the stud & refit the nut. Remove OE hose from PCV valve and connect OCC 'centre hose' to PCV valve. Follow the removed OE black rubber hose back to where it joins the grey rigid plastic tube, and pull off at this point. Connect the remaining 'side hose'
on OCC to the grey plastic tube. (push on approx 2"). No need for any jubilee clips.

Yea I got the Catch Can a day or two ago and its very nicely built,a real quality piece of work the can is. I just wish that I would have known instead of being surpised on the costs, after seeing that I would not have to pay VAT here on this thread. But nevermind I guess I cant take the money with me when I die so I might as well spend it while I can haha. Maybe I threw them off that I live in England have an England address but I am an American in the US Air Force over here with my bank being in the states as I paid for it with a Mastercard/Debit card. Eh! such as life

If we send (or any other vat registered company) sends parts to the USA then NO vat is charged. 'Sinned's' parts were ordered in UK and sent to UK hence VAT must be charged. If you are entitled to VAT free then you will be able to claim back anyway. There is never a situation where you pay vat when you shouldnt and is too late to claim back.
I know is obvious but we do not get the vat ,we send it to customs and excise every 3 months. Instructions will be included but as are not printed yet is why I put a brief version on this thread.
Regards Roland. Gt Tuning
ps Glad you like the product!
OBE You will not pay VAT if you order GTT parts for delivery to the USA.
