I've got a question that I need help on. I've got an 05 MCS and to my dismay I noticed that they offered LSD on MCS after I bought the car. Now, I'm stuck without a factory LSD because my local MINI dealer won't install just the LSD, they claim they have to put a whole new tranny in, wich I was quoted out around $5000. I know of a couple LSD retrofit systems such as Phantom Grip and Quaife, both have a significant price difference. My main concern is warranty, considering my new MINI only has 5000 miles on it. Should I be concerned of voiding my MINI warranty if I have LSD installed? I would appreciate any help on this.

If a failure is caused by an aftermarket part, it won't be repaired under warranty.

Your transmission warranty should definitely be void after opening it up yourself.
