I have searched the posts, but can't find these answers...I have a Nov. build 2005 non-JCW MCSC and want to add a JCW intake. I am new to this mod stuff, and am solidly at the bottom of the learning curve. I apologize for sounding dumb, but, can anyone tell me, what is meant by an "airbox" ? If I were to add a JCW intake, is it part of that?
Also, am I able to add a JCW intake and injectors to my car, or am I relegated to adding an intake alone?
What sort of power gain might I expect from a JCW intake with and without the injectors?

Not sure about MINIUSA but in Canada, the JCWS airbox package comes with injectors and ECU reprogram. The installed price including taxes is $850CDN (about $650US).

the JCW AIRBOX is the air intake, the injectors are part of the JCW cylinder head and not availble separately from the fill JCW 210 conversion.
The airbox itself is about $300 with maybe 1 hour labor to fit at a dealer. On its own it will give you 5 to 7 bhp, so on a 2005 car you end up with something around 175 Bhp at 4000 rpm.
With it fitted the car will drive a little smoother and be a sight quicker when the revs get higher than it is now. the Supercharger howl sounds even better for some reason.

The MINI Yaletown site I was directed to earlier states:
For those people that already have the JCW tuning kit installed, there is an upgrade kit available that includes the larger fuel injectors, air intake and the upgraded ECU software, takes you from 200hp > 210hp - cost $850 installed
And, as I said in my post, I do NOT have JCW already...

So, I can get the JCW airbox/intake, but for the injectors et al will need the entire package.... Better start saving my pennies, then

I am doing this "piecemeal" - I will be fitting a used JCW exhaust w/low miles ($500)
and used JCW wheels w/low miles ($1000 plus cost of new non-RFs), and plan to do the JCW intake. So, if my math is correct, I can expect maybe 8- 10 HP more than what I have?

Obviously, I am not as much after the power-per-dollar ratio as I am keeping the car as OEM as possible, and adding nice (to me, anyway) wheels and boosting my HP a bit while enjoying a nicer SC whine!!! It all sounds good to me

The air box has a flap which opens at 4500rpm significantly increasing exhaust noise etc. Putting the airbox, exhaust and wheels on will give you the JCW noise and looks.

Adding a non JCW reduced pulley and an ECU upgrade(around $1000) will be unlikely to be spotted by your garage and give JCW performance for around half the price.

Oooh, nice! Kind of a "stealth" JCW, eh? Looks like, sounds like, but...isn't really!! Ha! Sounds a bit tempting to go this route...but first I have to get over my non-warranty fears

If I do not add an aftermarket pulley, is there any point to the ECU upgrade? Or is that only added when more "significant" engine mods are done (significant not in terms of difficulty, but in terms of powertrain modification)

Also, I have been wondering if the fact that I do not have LSD (November build car, so not available at time of purchase ) will be problematic with a JCW modded engine. I have read stories about increased wheelspin and difficulty in corners, etc. without the LSD, and with the reduced gearbox ratios in the 05 cars, the last thing I want is a powerful car lying on it's side in a ditch!
