Hey Rakey,
have had a look around the place and have failed to find any predicted bhp figures though as a wild stab in the dark, I wonder if the Stage 1 conversion may be around the 210bhp Works mark, and then the Stage 2.........who knows, 250ish?
Looking forward to finding out though, yet another great choice added to the list of potential tuning companies for our beloved Minis!!!!
Regards,
Matt

Stage conversions don't make sence to me - why would you change the cam and throttle body in a stage one conversion and leave the pulley upgrade to stage 2???

Well, as they're going to sell it I'd hardly expect them to say "It's not all that".

I'm skeptical....it'll have abit more than 200bhp in stage 2 guise.

Assuming 12% drivetrain loss, 200 WHEEL horsepower is over 227 BRAKE horsepower

Again, 227(ish) bhp isn't bad, but you would have thought they would have tried to go a little bit more extreme with the figures...ok stage 2 is cheaper than JCW and potentially more powerful but as long as there are the BBRs and GTTs of the world, offering better figures at better prices, will it be worth it getting a Cosworth Cooper S?
Cheers,
Matt

Question I have to ask...

How little work does a tuning company have to do for another company to use its well known name as a badge for its product? Cosworth produce engines, not ported heads and Cams. Seems like to me, a company (M7 in this case) has seen the opertunity of extending the cachet of its tuning credentials with some links to one of the best known tuners on the planet.

'Powered by Cosworth'? Well, I'd like to see a Cosworth engine in a Mini. But saying its powered by Cosworth when they are infact just suppliers of some components - well, thats stretching the point for me somewhat.

Comments?

Yup, when you put it that way, it does seem that they are putting a well known and respected company's badge on the car, to sell products that are only indirectly connected to them! Some may say it's false advertising but it could be enough to boost their sales. At the end of the day I suppose it's down to how good the upgrades actually are but it is certainly fair to say that just because it's 'Cosworth' doesn't mean it will be automatically awesome ....we'll have to watch this space!!!
Cheers,
Matt

interesting comments...this is what discussion boards are about

Cosworth and M7 have put alot of effort into producing the ported heads and camshafts to exploit the head work...as soon as i can get more information from M7 regarding the cosworth packages i will be the first to post them up here on MINI2....

Also,

"
Please note that currently the Schrick cam will be substituted for the Cosworth cam until further notice.

"

So only a Cosworth ported head (and Cosworth intake manifold if you plump for Stage II), really....

and the 2 Exterior "Power by Cosworth" Badges, of course.

Worth it??? You decide.
Personally, I have no access to this, and still have a years worth of warranty, so am restricted to JCW or nothing.
