well a panel gives you improves smoothness through out the rev range similar to a standard induction kit,but if its noise your after go for the induction kit over the filter, say a 57i from k&n, whereas if you go to the next level and get a k&n typhoon or pipercross viper you get much larger gains in power and the noise is again better, these are both direct cold air feeds comapred to a standard induction kit which will suck in hot air from the engine bay unless its enclosed. hope that helps a little bit,

Ian

Just throwing in my thrupenny bits worth............I've just fitted an Alta and the improvement over the stock filter is fantastic, excellent throttle response, the awesome sound you get from it is also worth the admission fee alone, not to overpowering when driving normally, but hairs on the back of your neck job when you hit the floor.......

Yep..........get the Alta, by the way I dont work for them either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cool... I'm definetly going to go with Alta now...

I'm not sure if my usual shop in Japan can get the Alta though... I may have to order it myself and do the install too... Is it hard to install I wonder???

I'm expecting an ALTA CAI in the next couple of weeks, bought directly from the States. I'll be trying to fit it myself also (well, with some help from a few friends who are a bit wiser than I).

Here's some extra reading for you, and a nice pic too.

Hmm, there used to be a How To on the webbmotorsports site, but that doesn't appear to be the case. No matter I'm sure there'll be instructions flowting around on the net somewhere.

The fitting is pretty straight forward, simply removing the stock filter, although leaving the bottom section, removing a panel and genearlly just taking your time following the instructions and being careful when unplugging and plugging together the ECU.
Took me just over an hour. Good luck........

Thumbs up

Do yourself a favor and get the Webb Motorsports instructions with photos. You'll have to hunt for it on NAM, the photos on Webb's site have vanished... I just completed the install about an hour ago, and it was relatively easy. If you have large hands, the torx bolts on the left side of the heat shield (facing the rear of the car) are a little tough to get in while working around the battery cable, and the factory hose clamps are tricky to get back on. Other than that, its a breeze. You're going to love the increased supercharger whine!
