United-Kingdom '05 Mini One Motorway Revs

Hi There, can anyone tell me what the new mini one with the Getrag gearbox Revs at on the motorway in 5th Gear? Does the new gearbox rev at higer speeds on the motorway than the previous mini with the rover gearbox derivative?

I am thinking of buying a new one but am reluctant if the car revs near 4,000rpm at 80. Would this effect fuel economy or engine wear?

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul

The Getrag gearbox used in the MINI One is the same as the gearbox used in the Cooper, so the revs will be the same.

I am not totally sure about where the revs are at 80 MPH but it's over 4000RPM. There is another thread about engine life and the high revving Cooper & One engine. If you want to read it you can find it here: http://www.mini2.com/forum/general-discussion/97376-over-4000-rpms-my-cooper-highway-hours-every-day-ok-engine-life.html.

Hope this helps.

Cheers for this....spoke to the dealer today and decided to go for the OneD instead. Motorway Revs need to be lower I reckon. If I chip the OneD, the performance should be up to par as well..

Thanks,

Paul

It's obvious that fuel efficiency and low revs are important to you. In that case, the MINI One D was a good choice. If I was choosing between the One and the One D, I would have definitely chosen the One D.

It would be great if the One & Cooper revved lower at motorway speeds, but considering their power output, they basically have to rev where they do to put the power to good use.
