Offline | 4-1 or 4-2-1 headers? hey been shopping around for headers.. for the mcs and wondering which style is proven to give most power? the 4-1 design or the 4-2-1 design? im also considering getting it customly made up and heat wrapped.. any opinons or experiences with headers, anyone? very interested in the xforce headers.. anyone know if headers make a big difference in exhuast tone/noise? in most n/a cars the tone becomes a higher pitch.. anyone know about the mcs? Nos-ing it all the way home... |

Offline | Wrecky Thinking of doing likewise. There is a company in WA called Prestige Exhaust, they have a 4-2-1 fully stainless steel, extractors and exhaust for $1970 fitted for clubMINI members. Several WA mini's have these and they as great IMHO. Claims they add about 20kw and in fact the local dealer recommends this company to fit them. Sorry not much help in Sydney.....great win by them last night hey.... ![]() |

Offline | Apparently the Xforce header is the same unit as the OBX that sells in the states. Check the OBX Header thread on NAM.... I have one on the way from the states as we speak. In my opinion 20 Kilowatts from a exhaust is a bit unrealistic ![]() |

Offline | wrecky - i have the xforce headers and exhaust on my car. box stock, you're not going to see much improvement, if any with the headers and exhaust -mostly due to the drop in velocity and drop in backpressure (the headers are much more efficient). but should you decide to go for a pulley reduction, ECU retune, bigger injectors & plugs, etc., you'll see a big improvement in the end. let me know if you want more info... |

Offline | so in sense of bang for bucks.. its a no go? its because im still deciding to go with the xforce exhaust or not, and just wanted more feedback on the headers. still tossing between the xforce cat-back or a customly made up one with just 1 muffler. price wise.. the custom one should cost me about $300, and the xforce is roughly $500-$600 (trade price) hey okapi, u wouldnt happen to have a clip of your exhaust? just wanting to know what the xforce sounds like.. because it seems like the custom one sounds heaps beefy.. i dont mind the loudness of the exhaust tone. as long as it sounds good/tough! Nos-ing it all the way home... |

Offline | i've tried a clip a few times - mikes on both of my camcorders don't do it justice. i'll do another one in a day or so after i finish some work that's had me tied up. i can offer this 3rd party testimonial where someone has said they liked it. you can also ask Scotty as for bang-for-the-buck - get a reduction pulley if you are looking for performance. if you're just looking for sound, then go the cat-back. btw - with the xforce - i had to have a resonator put in behind the cat. without it there was a very funky noise and it was very loud in the car. outside it sounded like the sound of the mufflers sometimes cancelled each other out (a weird amplitude modulation worpy sound...) |
