Offline | Hello....So.....I'm born in the US but I'm a dual Citizen with Czech Republic, and I'm moving to the Czech Rep in January. I don't think I'll be shipping my beloved MINI to CZ for fear of her safety (I'll probably just visit her on my massive amount of vacation days that Europeans get), but i think that I may get a classic (know of any??)...anyway I'd definitely enjoy going to some MINI events that you guys are having in the future as I enjoy organizing and attending MINI events around here (New York/ New Jersey/ North East). Offline | Hi Venno. Look forward to welcoming you to CZ in January. I'm English by nationality and my working week is still based in the UK, but my family home is on the outskirts of Prague so I'm there 2-3 days a week where I get to enjoy the 's'. If you ever get withdrawal symptoms then look me up and I'll take you out for a blast ! ![]() |

Offline | Yes I know Dobris as we pass it on the R4 when we go down to Strakonice in South Bohemia. The mimi mini is based in Rudna a bit nearer to Praha but the same side of the city as yourself -near the big Ikea if you know it ? As for finding a classic I think you'll be lucky. Even the new generation Mini is unusual and you can go for weeks with out seeing another one... well that's not exactly correct, as in our village there must be something in the water as we have four of them, and that's not including the local garage who's currently got three for sale ! I'll keep an eye out though. ![]() |

Offline | Yeah i was thinking of shipping my MINI but considering it stands out even in the US amongst other MINIs (My avatar is a little outdated) I'd be fairly certain I'd be taking a taxi home from the local grocery store. Yeah I;ve noticed the Lack of MINIs in CZ....4 MINIs thats more than I've seen in CZ combined! you guys meet up??? but anyways its nice to see other MINI folk in the area! Musíme Jít na Pivo! I was thinking that with the classic MINI at least i could sneak my mods under the hood without attracting as much attention as a newer MINI DS DS '06MCS |

Offline | If you're worried about theft, I like to think that the Mini is so unusual it would stand out too much, especially with a big Union Flag on the roof like mine ! I have a Lancia Integrale in the UK and I've lived with the worry of it being stolen for years, so I suppose I'm sort of immune when it comes to the Mini. I know the guy with the GP as that's who I bought mine from, but afraid my Czech is somewhat basic and his English is none existent so the conversation would be difficult, so not met up with them. ![]() |

Offline | Both...Apparently in CZ they pay monthly and not weekly like in the States...SO I still have no idea how much I really make after taxes and all that fun stuff....But i have found a Very nice Classic MINI that is being sold by a guy in Morava who has about 10 MINIs (he LOVES MINIs) and its in great condition too, so as soon as i know for sure how much I make I'll be purchasing. But even once I buy my MINI, I think that I'll be still taking the bus most of the time......Czech drivers are CRAZY!!!! Yeah Drinks in Prague Sounds Great...It'll have to wait a month since I'm in Minnesota on business right now, but yeah!....anyone else up for some brews in Prague? DS DS '06MCS |

Offline | Ahoj, The tax is pretty confusing -my wife manages to get some tax BACK at the end of each year but still not sussed how she does it ! Around town they're not bad drivers, but get 'em on country roads & they think nothing of overtaking on blind corners & on motorways if they come up behind you at speed flashing headlamps, get out of the way sharpish as they'll not brake. You won't find this out until it's too late ! Oh & don't forget to keep your documents with you when driving. I got stopped for a random check of my motorway pass (which was valid) & realised I'd left them them at home. Got a 1000czk fine, which for UK is low, but the Czechs say I was conned as shouldn't have been more than 250czk. Let us know when you're back & we'll organise a 'pivo nebo dva.' ![]() |

| Are we nearly there yet? | Hey Morty - indeed I'm still here! And we will be going to the Charity Ball and Plant Oxford tour in May - where will you be then? ![]() If I do get to Prague, it will be in mid-October...so you might want to use your trip when the weather is nicer! ![]() (Must find another excuse to get over to Antwerp or Brussels.......)
