I saw something the other day - apparently a convoy of some 450 TVRs (protesting at the factory closure) has entered the record books for the biggest single-marque convoy. Now it seems to me that an event like MINI United would be the ideal opportunity to grab the record for MINI - anyone agree?

I would agree. Seriously though, I live in Newcastle which is about 2 miles from the ferry terminal in North Shields which heads over to IJmuiden.

If Mini United does get held in Zandvoort, I'd have only done a maximum of 5 miles (actual driving) to get there.

there has been a world attempt before at the Hamburg MINI Days 2005

which, however, wasn't successful because they couldn't keep the minimum/maximum distance between each car... the convoy numbered 300+ minis

who's interested in going?
Rumours are MINI UNITED 2007 will take place in the Nederlands at a place called Zandvoort. Dates 22-24 june, but this is still not sure for 100%. You can see this site for more info later on this month.

I haven't found any threads on here so i was just wondering if anyone else knows that Mini United is OFFICIALLY going to happen this year!!

The website states that more info will be released on 31st of this month.

My family and I REALLY enjoyed this last time, in fact it was the one reason we started coming to the runs and started KAES Mini Club. And it was the first official time i met my Hickster!

I think it's going to be a lot bigger this time with tickets going quicker, as i think last time people weren't sure what to expect.

The other thing we really enjoyed was staying in a dedicated hotel where we made so many Mini friends!!

Anyway just thought you might want to watch that ^ space!!

Definitely considering going - would be interesting in seeing what dates they have in mind.

If it's held in Holland (or thereabouts), there's a ferry leaves from Newcastle so it's a short drive for me

followed by another short drive (1-2 miles) to Zandvoort.

That's the DFDS ferry? I'm trying their service out in a few weeks time - going in the other direction. Note - if there are going to be several MINI fans heading over on this route, DFDS may be prepared to offer a discount.......
