Italian Job charity event - opinions?

I'm interested in anyone's experiences with the Italian Job charity race held each year (since 1990) in Europe. It sounds like a great week of enjoying travel in Italy, a love for Mini's, great food and wine while raising money for kids. I'm not quite sure how to participate (can I beg, rent, borrow or steal a Mini for the week?). I've looked at the web site, but would be very interested to hear if any members of the MINI2 community have participated and their opinion.
