An Ozzie needs your help

Hi

I was hoping you guys in the Europe could help me. I am trying to buy a second hand speedo and tacho gauge for my Ozzie MINI.

Could some one tell me if most of Europe uses km/h for their speedo? Also what you guys call a place were car go after an accident to get disassemble so the parts may be sold. Here in Oz they are call “wreakers”. If any one can recommend a “wreaker” that would be great.

Thanks for you help

Can't work out what you are up to but here's a few answers anyway......

1) All of Europe except the UK use km/h speedo's.

2) That would be a breakers or scrapyard. In Germany they're known as Schrottplatz or Autoverwertung.

3) A very good one in Germany is in Schloss Holte near Paderborn. Their homepage
http://www.kerstingjohaenner.de

Unfortunately the English homepage doesn't work at the mo. but there is a 'phone number, address and a situ. plan. I also know for a fact that they speak English and deal Internationally.
Glad to help....whatever you're up to..

minimarkcs thank for your info. A scrapyard with web cams now that sweet.

Now everyone, I just want these parts so I can make them in to a nice paper weight for my office.

I thought this was amusing. In the U.S. they're known as junkyards or salvage yards.

Dom the price from a dealer would make anyone shudder over 1000 GBP. och

Max the people who set the laws in my office tell me the paper weight MUST be Km/h only. Don't care want country it is it just has to be in KM/h.

@ max,
OK, I am a Brit. but consider myself European. !! :-)
@ snoopy,
At least the friendly Germans got back to you. Customer service is written in huge letters over here. (sometimes)
Shame they couldn't help you though. I do now know a guy over here who's written his Cooper off and could try and blag his Speedo from him. Let me know............

@snoopy. Got you're pm mate. I got on the blower to the chap in Berlin but unfortunately the car is gone, speedo an' all.
I'll keep plugging for you though, an alternative could turn up at any minute as Germans drive like idiots
(Just hope that I never have to offer you mine !!)

Just a quick question.
Do you want the 'little' speedo (behind the wheel with navigation) or the 'BIG' speedo (like a frying pan in the middle, which I love)
