Offline | German Dealers handling mods and tuning?? After having read so much about how the UK and US dealers handle or not handle modified and tuned MCSs regearding service and warranty - I would love to hear some quotes or experiences from the other germans in here. - Does Your dealer do the servicing & warranty work eventhough cars are modded. - Did You check on that before applying changes to the cars? - any problems ??? thanks in advance CHEERS vrooooooooooom |

| MINI2 Regular | I haven't got an answer for you yet but I am approaching my dealer (very carefully) about a few mods. that I plan on making. I know from past experience that it is always best to clear things with them before doing anything at all. I lost the warranty on my old 3 series BMW because I had it lowered !! After that though I never stopped and ended up with 240ps and loads of fun. Will let you know how I get on. Otherwise take a peek at mini2ig.de. There'll be some good tips on there somewhere ![]() Passengers ride at own risk ! |

Offline | When I asked the BMW salesman about the JCW package for my MCS, I mentioned the Digitec mod, and he said that they would not touch the car under warranty if this was fitted (or they found out about it!), R. |

| MINI2 Regular | I've also approached my dealer about the Digitec conversion. So far they are getting in touch with Digitec in Datteln to find out more about what is actually done to the car (I've already told them but they want some official stats.) I seem to be getting a fairly positive resonance at the moment, at least they didn't say "NO" right from the start. My salesman was very positive about Digitec but in the end it all comes down to someone higher up whether I can go ahead with the conversion without losing the complete warranty. My aim is to take the guarantee from Digitec and to have everything else covered by my dealer. Apart from that Digitec are proving to be very helpful in all aspects. After all that I have heard about them and the way that they operate is beginning to convince me that I should go ahead with the conversion anyway. If you want some 'on the road' impressions of Digitec (and understand German) then take a look at mini2ig.de in the 'Tuningstagebuch'. There has also been a lot of positive stuff written about Digitec and the owner of the firm is actively posting in the forum. There are also other conversions available in Germany notably from MTH tuning, which is essentially an ECU remap. This can be played onto or taken off of the ECU as often as you require, avoids the 'update counter' and is as such allegedly impossible to detect. All you need is a laptop computer and an OBDII cable. Whatever you eventually decide to do, good luck and above all have fun. Passengers ride at own risk ! |

| MINI2 Regular | So, after many discussions with my dealer I've been given the go-ahead with respect to the digitec conversion AND keeping the main parts of the warranty. The only drawback is if there is a major hiccup that my mechanic can't deal with and a BMW techy has to come and look at the car. He would notice the changes straight away and refuse to work on it under warranty. As keevan said I officially lose the warranty on compressor, engine and gearbox but they have agreed to work on the car and keep up the service plan. They also said that everything is discussable and most things can be made possible. Digitec offer a guarantee for a sum on most major parts that they change so all in all I should still be pretty well covered. It's now just a case of saving my pennies as there are also other mods. on the way. ![]() I ranted and raved about my dealer on the mini2ig forum as I didn't feel that I was getting the proper service and attention but after these discussions I've decided to give them a second chance. ![]() Passengers ride at own risk ! |
