Painted Wheel arches?

I was wondering what people prefer the Aero kit with thw wheel arches painted or standard black? I ask this because with my JCW arriving in March ive seen a few with them painted and was considering this as they have to paint the kit when it arrives anyway. It surely looks good on the dark colours but i have hyper blue and im not sure.
Cheers

personally I'm not a huge fan, but Tit has it on his and whoever he got to do it did an AWESOME job. I've seen some pretty bodged up jobs of it, but his isn't one of them...

What color are you going? I think it looks good on metallic cars, but makes the car look very flat on solid colored cars. Like everyone before me has said, it is a personal preference.

I personally love the Aero with the black trims, but that is me.

Don't paint the arches - it's hard to find someone that will do a good job of it, and I think it looks crap anyway

You want black arches - especially with the Aero kit

I don't have an aero kit, but had my arches painted.

As the other guys mentioned, it really is personal preference and it does look better on some colours than others. If you do it, make sure you get it done properly, as you'll regret it when the 'cheaper' job starts to peel off at a later date.

It's probably the one thing that i've done to my car that gets the most amount of (positive) comments.

But, it's up to you!! I've learnt after years of modding cars that you do whatever makes YOU happy.

I have it done on my car, and personally, it's my favourite mod. I reckon it makes the car look lower and fatter. As mentioned before, make sure you get it done properly, or you'll regret it...

Go have a look at my Gallery to see what's been done to my car...

I got it done at Pennant Hills BMW and I'm very happy with their work. It wasn't cheap, but I don't regret it for a moment...

PM me if you want more info...

I like it and wanted it done on my IB/W MCS right from day one. At the time the ol' girl didn't approve, now she does and I'm not so sure anymore.

If the job has been done properly I'm yet to see a car with colour coded arches I don't like.

Hi,

I personally love the colour coding

However,
I have seen EB and LY cars, and didn't like it. On those combos it somehow looked wrong to my personal taste. Somehow it didn't seem to work

I love it on every other colour combination I have seen

Cheers

Robbo

It is not my cup of tea, I wouldn't bother doing it (especially after seeing the very messy state of my wheel arches - they are chipped to hell)

Each to their own though, I don't hate it - I just wouldn't bother doing it.

Like other owners have said it is down to personal preference and the job has to be done right or it will look bad. I had it done on a BRG/BRG and the comments have all been good. I think it only suits certain colours and there is an issue with stone chipping, particularly the rears. I had the rears redone after 12 months and am about to do it again. On the right colour it does give an illusion of the car being lower and fatter on the road like tit says.

I have my BRG colour coded and think it looks the business. Saw a CR with colour coding the other day and didnt like it a bit. Definately depends on the colour in my opinion. I have had mine done for over 2 years and have not a single scratch or chip on them.

I reckon it'd look great on the HB...

generally, it works best on the metallic paints....

reccomendations I'd make:

- buy new arches instead of using your old ones on the car. When the guys pull the old ones off, they can get a little warped...leaving small gaps between the arch and the body of the car...
- also, with spare arches, you can leave the freshly painted arches off the car for two or three weeks (ozicozi, for example, require this for the paint to cure), then get a film applied, like ozicozi, which will prevent the chipping (I'd just do it on the rear arches...)
- the aero kit chips like crazy, so be prepared for that.....protective film will help you out a little there if you are that way enclined...

finally..if you don't like it...I'll let you in on a secret..........

the aero kit front and rear bar are 1 piece. The black bits that match the arches are actually painted on! So.....if you don't like the colour coding, you can go grab either your old (unpainted) arches, or buy new ones, and get the black bits painted onto the front and rear bar. I suspect this is what they do anyway....(paint the black over the body colour)....

Thanks guys for that important imfo, See i had a GTP before and it used to get heaps of stone chips on the side skirt from all the circuit events i did and you all just reminded me about that. I intend to do the same with this car so its probably not a good idea to go ahead with it.
Cheers
