Got a phone call this morning from garage to say my Mini had arrived

Talk about being excited - it was like being a kid at Xmas all over again!

I've another 3 weeks to wait until I can bring it home with me (06 reg) so I decided to go over in my lunch hour for a look

I spotted it straight away even though it was surrounded by other mini's as it was the only PW/B MCS I could see.

I ordered the black bonnet stripes which have been factory fit but instead of being all black as I had assumed they would be, they are outlined in white.

There actually was another PW/B MCS with black bonnet stripes but those are solid black without no edging. I queried this with the salesman and was told that mine were outlined because that's how they are when they have been factory fit and the others have been done after delivery. Is this correct or has the wrong type been ordered?

To be honest I do actually prefer the one's that aren't edged as I don't think white goes very well against the pepper white colour and theirs no other white on the car for it to match in with (apart from the no. plate)

What do others think? What sort of bonnet stripes does anyone else have on PW mini?

The salesman speaks the truth ... factory fitted stripes have contrasting color borders.

Mine has recent additions, solid black stripes, no outline, imo colour co-ordinate as much as poss, dont add if it's not needed, just my opinion

edit: not PW, but just a good taste in colour x

Looks good on your car Rakey

but the white contrasts with the red well. Not too sure about white next too Pepper White - not much of a contrast there.

Took some pics with my phone but don't know how to get them onto PC (not very techy minded!)

Will def post some once I collect though.

there should be an option to send the pics, like a text, but use the option to send to an e-mail address, then send to yourself and then save on the PC

Going to go down again on Saturday for another inspection so will take camera with me this time

It is not just the factory fitted stripes that have the 'accents', all genuine MINI bonnet stripes have the edging. My CR/W has white bonnet stripes with the black edges and they were fitted by the dealer.

I'm Pepper White and Black also and I feel your pain. It's time for a discussion with your dealer. Mine, here in Arizona, usually bends over backward to achieve the highest levels of customer service. I hope yours is as good.

Assert that they should replace the stripes. Stomp up and down if you must. Don't leave there without a resolution. Now, GET OUT THERE AND FIGHT!!! Sorry, I kind a lost my head.

I've already put a post on General Discussion but don't think any PW owners have responded. Any PW owners please can I have your views?

I went to see my PW/B MCS at the garage before I take delivery on 1st March and noticed that the factory fit black bonnet stripes which I ordered have white edges

I have been told that all factory fitted bonnet stripes are edged like this but then spotted another pepper white with solid black bonnet stripes which looked better IMO.
What do other PW owners think? I was told the other PW/B had the bonnet stripes fitted elsewhere.

I think that edged stripes look good on any other colour as they usually match in with roof or trims but there is nothing else on my PW for the white to match in with

I don't know what to do now!

Do I insist the dealer do something about it as I only ordered black bonnet stripes and not ones with white edging?

Will they actually match in better once I get a white number plate?

Will I feel better after a second look or after I take delivery?

I have been so looking forward to getting my mini and now I feel really down!

Oops! Just put another post up but this time on Exterior forum because I didn't think I'd had any responses from PW owners and now I've spotted this!

Oh well some more responses would be welcome anyway

even just to cheer me up as I'm feeling sad

Well i asked the dealer about this.
Because i missed the deadline for changes to the car, and i wanted the white stripes on my black mc.

They said that the factory only provides stripes with white edges. Because i missed the factory option i have to pay £100 and get it done by the gfx company by the dealer.
They then provide the option without white edges if i wanted.

Though of course, im not fussed! Im sure you wont be after a while too.

They are right all genuine cooper s stripes have white edging. The ones for the cooper are just plain tho. If its really a big deal just rip them off afterwards and get the cooper ones fitted in black. Alright it will cost you more money but at least it will be right. I dont think you can really blame the dealer or insist they change them.
I think you will feel better after you take delivery of it!

I really don't like the idea of "just ripping them off"!

Don't agree that I can't blame the dealer. Shouldn't they be able to advise what exactly all their specs are? I was also mis-advised on the chrome line interior on a MCS too!

Considering the price I'm paying for this everything should be spot on.

I'm defiantly off for another inspection tomorrow with my other half for a second opinion. Hopefully I may not feel the same but if I do will be insisting the dealership do something about it

The 'Approved' stripes are either White with black edge, or black with white edge. There is no difference depending on model, they are the same for all...

If you have seen plain black elsewhere, then they're aftermarket. If you prefer them, then cancel the stock ones and get plain ones fitted afterwards.

You can hardly blame the dealer for suppling exactly what you ordered.....

If you don't like them, don't buy them

The dealer probably can't get plain one's from BMW now. They'd have to be from a graphics company. I prefer the edged look myself.

I do on most colour combinations, but I agree that white against pepper white would not go well

Yeh fair enough at the end of the day tho they arnt going to tell you anything to put you off adding options tho are they. Im not saying its right but thats just the way they are, what did they tell you about the chrome interior?

i ordered black bonnet stripes after the Mini came out from the factory, the stripes did not have the white edges as you state and though it was perfect for the colour combo

the dealer basically called in a specialist to fit them so i had to pay for labor costs on top, remember that if not are not completely satisfied with them - speak to the dealer

white edges against PW cooper sounds abit odd as i have never seen them but who knows........
