so I have a 2006 pepper white mini, I want to put a black strip on it but I have heard the black stripes are the worst.. is this true do they fade and pesl quick.

Word has it the OEM stripes are just white stripes dyed black. So any surface damage will make the white show through. I don't have the black stripes myself, but I've seen mention of this in several threads.

My advice, if you want black stripes, would be to save your money and buy some quality aftermarket black stripes.

Unless you're getting the Sport Package, in which case the stripes are free so you might as well get them. Then when they start to wear out you can pull them off and decide then whether you prefer the look of stripes or no stripes, before spending your cash on some better stripes.

Photoshop it before you committ, it could be money well saved!

I had a matt black union jack and matt black bonnet / boot stripes custom made last year. They are fantastic and haven't faded at all. The company also makes gloss stripes like the OEM ones. They were less than half the price of BMW ones. Try this link. They'll make most things

I just got through installing stripes on my Mini this morning, traditional in front and viper in the rear, what do you think. It was a snap to do and I ordered 4"vinyl from a contractor $38 for 150 ft. I have enough left to do a whole fleet of Mini's.

Looks great, great minds think alike. I'll have to put the small stripes on the front, but I think I will buy pre made stripes from an auto parts store rather than trim the 4" material down as I did on the rear.
