Offline | You've probably seen it before, but I thought it does look rather smart on the EB....... ![]() Last edited by Paul : Jul 17th, 2002 at 03:07 AM. |

Offline | I know this has been said before, but it would look a lot better if it extended to the edge of the roof-line, otherwise it looks like an inverted Swiss flag. From a brief internet search, it would appear that the overall proportions should be 5:3 (W:H) with the cross line width = H/5. Ian |

| MINI2 Senior | I designed and fitted these graphix myself and the reason they don't go to the edge of the roof is the ease of installation. It would mean several cuts in the vinyl to accomodate the curve at the edge of the roof. I actualy don't think it is to bad. However I think you could fit the English flag to the edges as the curves are not as complex as those in the corners. |

Offline | I've just had a flag of St George applied to the roof of my Cooper by my MINI dealer. Apparently they do the English cross bit first, and then do the rest if you want the full Union Jack. Being English I just wanted the cross, and very good it looks to I had bonnet stipes done as well, about 200 quid the lot. Bet I've got the ONLY yellow/white roofed/St George's crossed/bonnet striped/white wheeled Cooper in existence! DaveG |

Offline | Nope, no spot lights for me. Saw them on an Cooper at the dealers and thought they looked naff. YMMV ![]() Must get around to sorting a car kit for the mobile, and an line input to the Boost radio for the ipod. And then there'd be the Works conversion, and ....... DaveG |

| MINI2 Senior | DaveG Can't help you with WRX kit but check the tail end of this thread as there are a few bits info on my Nokia install in there. As for the line-in, I working on this too. At the moment it is not looking good as I don't like the idea of sending the signal via the aerial lead and I cannot find out how to trigger the many different cabled line-ins on unit (Aux in, TV in, CD changer in, Navigation in). Got the phone in working though, as above. Basically I need to devise a Black box to send the right code down the control line to trigger the appropriate input. It is one thing to ba able to produce the signal but another to whork out what to say to it. |

Offline | Hi GaryM Yep, seen that thread already ![]() So there IS an Aux in available then! There's a few other threads about a line in http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...&threadid=7865 www.BlitzSafe.com apparently have a black box to do the line in. Oh, and a you gave a good explaination of balanced circuits in http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...&threadid=8633 I do live sound for a living, and find that most HiFi/ICE people don't really understand balanced circuits, or RMS/Peak come to that.DaveG |

| MINI2 Senior | Yes, I think so. I have the pin out details of the rear of the Boost unit and they are not indicated here but it was mentioned in other threads. Having stripped the head unit down there is an aux in labled on the PCB which terminated to some undefined pins on the rear. As I have said before it is learning these all important trigger codes. Even if Aux in wasn't viable theres the stereo TV or CD changer in. I guess it is the latter that BlitzSafe have hacked. Cheers for that. I'm not in the industry in any way I'm just applying common sense. For example how many 600W or 1000W RMS amps are there really? Take away the RMS value and it seems a licence for manufactures to say what they like. EG: My rear speakers are rated at 150W, wow. Until you look at the RMS figure of 50W. Look at the figures on Jap amps they seem to be the worst. My rule of thumb is stick with RMS figures at 4ohms all the way. If you can't find them forget the peice of kit. |

Offline | Yep, saw that. Brave man ![]() The CAN bus protocol? Or is that what the car uses? Does the Boost radio use the Alpine M-Bus protocol? <snipped> Not many at all! Most professional ones that produce that sort of power are over 25KG as well, unless they use switch mode PSUs, but even then they're around 10KG And use your ears!! ![]() DaveG |

| MINI2 Senior | You've got it. Like a good wine enjoy what you enjoy! In this case what sounds good to me might not to you. Not sure on the protocol and that is part of the problem. The other is that I'd love to put a protocol sniffer on the bus but I can only do this on a lab bench and guess what, the head unit does a security check with the car as it powers up. Just comes up "DISABLE" on display. On the amp front... most, even of marginal quality, will use switch mode PSU's. The exception normally being head units, however Alpine and others are even using crude SMPSU's in them. Oh and then mis-quote the outputs to make them sound loud, 60W I think Alpine say. Yeah right! Simple ohms law will tell you can't get much out of 12-14V so a SMPSU is need to pump up the voltage. Guess it is long overdue that this thread move to INTERIOR & ICE. |
