Clear repeaters and side vents

When you buy the clear side repeaters do you get the black plastic vents (you know - the ones everyone wishes were chrome) as well?

If not does anyone have a couple of the black vents they want to part with (may be someone who's replaced theirs with the Cooper 'S' ones)?

Not quite sure what you mean here, but all MINIs bar the Cooper S have black side vents. If you change the repeaters you don't have to change the vents!

Ah well I want to change the side vents!

I'd like a pair to get chromed. I know somebody who can do it, but I don't want to use the ones from my car just in case they don't turn out right.

Yeah but haven't they 'been producing them' for a while?

I've read threads that go back a good few months on this subject and the vents being available 'soon' - but as far as I'm aware they are still not available - 'cos if they were you can guarantee Monsta would already have 'em!

Just go down to your local dealership and order them from the parts department. Doubt they cost much. £10 tops mereckons.

from what i understand the standard plastic is unchromable (new word for the dictionary!) so i think minispares are having to get there own made. hence the delay. but they will be worth the wait.

Moss has produced a set of the OEM vents in chrome. Check out www.mossmotors.com

My clear repeaters were fairly cheap:

Nice, but with the way the light it is I cannot see a great deal of difference over the standard ones.

No the vents not the repeaters!!

They don't look very clear and indeed they don't look very chrome either - to me they look more of a dark grey.

Ok, I am almost soory I posted this pic - this pic of my side repeaters and vents - my vents are NOT chromed. I only added the clear (or white) repeaters - or "blinkers" as we American's call them. Due to the over exposure, it does look a bit washed.

Here is a shot of the CHROMED ones from Moss (on top)- that I do not have...sheesh.

Sorry - it wasn't my intention to upset you. I misread your message and I thought you were actually showing a picture of the chromed vents - and when I say it didn't look very clear I meant the photograph - not your repeater!

Yes the Moss ones are just what I'm after but like Smiffy says $80 is a bit steep.

On closer inspection the details on the Moss website say
Quote:
Chrome Side Vent Grille with S

so maybe these are just the Cooper S ones after all. They don't appear to have the ones 'without S'.

No problem Razo - we work with Moss quite a bit and they are selling the standard "non-S' vents chromed - we have ordered several sets and I believe there is a delay now.

The problem with chroming any kind of outside parts is that they do tend to tarnish over the years (acid rain, road chemicals, washing chemicals, etc).

I'll post more info as it becomes available here.

John Cooper badges for side vents?

Anyone know if you can get the John Cooper badges for the side vents when you have some upgrades from them or do you have to have the full conversion?

Hi Blue Potato,

Can you point me to find a pair cheap clear repeaters? My dealer is charging me CAD$100 for a pair which I think it's unreasonable. I know folks in the UK got them for 20 quids (less than CAD$50).

Please let me know...

Cheers,

Ronster

I seem to recall a post that stated you could only get them with the works kit. It would seem a little ricey to me to put them on a non-works car. They do look nice though.

It was under the thread about the air filter kit.
