SupaGlass Or Not?

Well my mini got broken into at work by some angry scum from Salford armed with a claw hammer....

Check out the action shot of us trying to stop their stolen car on get away

Anyway question is after my window is now repaired. Do I just get it retinted for £30.00 or do I go for SupaGlass in all my sidewindows, this stuff you can't break into if you smash it up with hammers, bricks, kicking etc. It can also withstand objects being thrown at it like. e.g chavs throwing bricks at you.

The only downside I can think of is that if they can't break in they may get upset and start smashing the rest of the car up in frustration....

Anyone else have SupaGlass experience company that I am using are Pentagon Glass

The mini uses a frameless window and as such, strength against breakins is less than a door with a frame, but will help in any case. Pentagon Autoglass are one of the best, the workmanship is superb but obviously at a cost. I'm actually surprised it will only be £200, is that for just the side windows or all round?
Its a matter of cost really, I would choose them but don't forget if you're in a high risk area, with a chance of further breakins, it will cost you each time to replace with supaglass film.

Just wondering, I bet from that picture, the police got the person and shouldn't HE have to pay the price of the new window, not you? If you have the license plate number give it to the cops, you have somewhat "proof."

I would just have it replaced with the normal stuff - and definatly don't have it tinted as they are illegal and the cops do make you remove it. The MINI's standard glass is very very close to the maximum tint allowed in the UK.

What a gutter though - hope you catch the little chavs - and the coppers actually do something to help a motorist rather than worry about tints and speed cameras for a change!

The theivin chavs got away. We did get he reg plate of the car but that was stolen too and later set on fire. As for these people paying, they dont seem to be able to afford anything as the steal everything they own, so theres no chance of that!

The SupaGlass quote was just for all of the side windows... my only worry is that if they try again and can't get in that they will get ****ed off and just smash up the car causing more money to repair

As I said mate don't bother, they'll trash your car if they can't get in it.

Another problem is that you can't protect your windscreen - they could always just smash that, and I'm assuming that that'd be more expensive to get fixed.

Sorry to hear about the breakin mate.

the windscreen is laminated...it will not smash in (simply anyway) for safety reasons.

I'm willing to bet you'd still get in with a hammer.

Plus the fact that windscreen and rear windscreen replacements are £60 to replace from insurance so their are not too much of a bother.

I'm sure if you're determined enough but not a thief, far too much effort and time

I think that BMW should make front "bull-bars" for the mini so we can happily run down scum back chavs who try to steal our minis. Maybe a bit extreme but it would stop them!!!!

I agree yoni99

Got my tint fitted today £30.00 they fitter said its completely pointless getting SupaGlass on the front sidewindows as they are frameless, no where near as strong as with frames.

TBH as long as you don`t leave things in the car the it doesn`t matter if you fitted SupaGlass or not. You still have to replace the window if its smashed, the only difference is you can drive to an Autoglass with the window still vaguely intact.

Be careful with side tints if you are in the UK, they are now illegal on any front side window.

Was that £30 per window? Thats a good price Thinking of getting my front windows done soon, the back are the factory tint so ill get the nearest to that i think (keeping it legal!)

I originally got tinted by them last year.

£250.00 :- Smoke rear / rear side / light smoke front sides Think as I was an existing customer they let me have one side for £30.00

Your right you shouldn't leave anything on display you can't even leave the suction mounts on display as they will break in hoping you have left the devices in the glovebox etc.
