Offline | I did it recently - bought it ready sprayed off eBay and fitted it myself. Took about an hour in total - not really all that difficult and well worth it! Used this guide which icludes loads of pictures: http://homepage.mac.com/rv6a/minisgascap.html Well worth doing. I went for a contrasting black trim ring to match the roof. |

Offline | Mine arrived fine - think it was £45 delivered. No problems with the quality of the paint or scratches on mine. The guy is still selling them on eBay in a variety of colours and I would have no hesitation buying from him again if I needed one. ![]() |

Offline | Not quite as easy as it looks Hi there, I've just got back from the dealer's from having a Cooper S fuel cap fitted; I tried to do it myself, but when it came to removing the inner wheel lining, it would not budge. I know in the instructions it says give it a firm tug (ooh er Mrs) but this still didn't help and the self-tepping screws wouldn't un-tap!!!The cap itself I got off ebay from a guy called Minialfie and the quality and paint job was top notch!! He sells loads of them and I was well pleased...cost £44 including next day delivery. When I originally contacted the dealer to fit they quoted £112 which I begrudgingly thought I would have to pay to get it done as I had removed the old fuel cap and just had an empty space. However, after coming to paying I got the pleasant surprise of only being charged £18.80 to fit...a bargain!!! This was Stratstone's of Doncaster...each time I go there and they do work fro me, I come away more impressed!! So I would say, get the part from ebay and then see what your dealer charges for roughly 1/2 an hour's work to fit...if like me, you don't want to damage your Mini and don't feel confident to do it. Hope that helps Paul |

![]() MINI2 Regular | Fitted mine myself using the guide that Step_7 mentioned above. I'm not at all mechanically-minded and I found it really straightforward to do. Getting the fuel pipe out and then back on was the trickiest part but all you need is a bit of brute force to succeed. Took me about an hour in total. |

Offline | I paid my local garage £20 and gave them the instructions to fit the S cap/surround to my old Cooper. Got it back 2 hours later finished and handed over £20. They said it was easy. For £20 its maybe worth getting a local gargae to do it. R |

Offline | Yeah it depends on how mechanically minded you are really. I own classic minis as well so am not averse to applying a bit of brute force when required...... ![]() |
