Talking New style spotlights fitted

I recently decided I no longer liked the look of my Hella spots, mainly due to the mounting system used, it just wasn't stylish enough

So I decided to look for something different, but still in keeping with the style of MINI. I spent ages trawling websites and ebay, finally spotting some called KC Daylighters which were 6". They looked very stylish but when I looked at the actual size they were huge

Not to be entirely put off, I tracked down the main KC website and found some fantastic looking 5" lights.
I found a UK supplier and ordered them on Wednesday and they arrived Friday.
The ones I bought are the long range version and they cost £40 each + VAT + delivery
They are quite chunky, very solid and the build quality is excellent.

As I already had spots all I had to do was to modify the mounting bracket with a larger hole for the mounting bolt, this bolt also had to be shortened. Nyloc nuts were purchased along with rubber covers for neatness (cover my cut bolt ) I also opted to upgrade my wiring to cope with more power

I wasn't actually sure if they would fit (expensive gamble if they didn't ) but they fitted perfectly, just in front of the grill with just the rubber grommet (for the wires to pass through) just touching the grill.

I'm very pleased how they've turned out though I've not yet had time to play out in the dark, but I'll report back when I have done

I like the original KC daylighters.

Came out in the 70's and were so bright that they were made illegal to have fitted without the smiley face covers installed on UK roads in case they were accidently switched on. 130w each light.

It was acceptable in the 80's

Cheers Wibbly

I don't know how other manufacturers light brackets differ from the Hella ones, so they may need modifying slightly more or maybe not
If anybody does buy some and needs nyloc nuts, the thread on the mounting bolts is 1/2" UNC not M12x2 as I thought they were

Root Ginger, they were the ones I saw first (in chrome) all their lights are classed as 'off road' but they do take standard H3 bulbs when necessary

My dad had 6 of those KC's on a Lotus Sunbeam and 4 on a TR8. You can imagine the light they gave out. Looks like a UFO on the photos.

Went out last night with these and I have found them far superior to the Hellas I had

Cheers

The badges (front, rear, steering wheel and wheel centres) were made by a local graphics company. Any graphics place should be able to help you out
