Online | Fitting Wipac spots I just got a set of Wipac lights and the instructions are extremely poor. Im stuck on the first step - fitting the metal bracket to the car. It says I have to drill holes for the screws is this true? It doesnt seem right drilling a hole into the metal as it would surely come out the over side. Any help/advice would be great! Thanks, Crammy |

Online | Hmm thanks for the help, i think I understand where the bottom screws go but on the top of the bracket which is just under the bonnet if i drill into this its going to come out of the other side of the bonnet, Do i just not use a screw here? |

| Flying Scotsman | ...if you dont have stainless or plastic coated brackets, it might be worth painting them first. Quite a few of the ones I have seen are really quite grubby after 6 months on the car...especially as you have winter comming up... Drilling - as Robby71 said, its just the inner bonet skin - just make sure you dont press too hard and touch the outer skin. Its all obvious once you start the job. DJ DJ |

| Flying Scotsman | You dont! The factory and dealers use pop rivets. Most aftermarket use self tapping screws. Hence...you dont need to gain access to between the skins... I personally prefer rivets as they are tight and dont tend to work loose. Just make sure you use the right sized drill if you use self tappers... and make sure you give everything a good paint around the holes to prevent rust. DJ |

| MINI2 Senior | I used set screws & nuts to secure my spotlights - I employed the use of a long magnet to hold the nut - voila! If you are going down this route remember to use spring washers - it prevents the nuts from freeing themselves with car vibrations. Vroooom Vroooom |

| Flying Scotsman | ...whatever you use, just remember that spring or lock washers will eat into the paint and will rust.... The front of teh car gets hit with all the weather...especially at speed - water gets in everywhere.... so rust is the No 1 enemy.... Pop rivents are cheap (even buying a pop rivet gun is only a few quid...) and they dont damage the touchup paint in the holes....(so easily..) Whatever method you use... drill very carefully, and do use paint...and check whatever you do after 2-3 weeks and fix any signs of rust asap... DJ |
