After a quick search on ebay I found the following WIPAC spot light set which includes stainless steel brackets and a wiring kit for £69.99.

Wondering if any of you have had experience with these? Are they worth the money? I really really want some spots but dont want to pay loads as i am skint Also, unsure on whether to buy 2 or 4!

I am looking at maybe getting myself cooper S bumbers + exhaust. Found this on ebay, looks a bit rusty too me, but unsure whether this is just how they look lol.

Now found this, are these also easy to fit?

Is it as easy to fit as it says?
Tools needed: philips screwdriver -10mm socket and spanner
  1. jack up the near side rear of the car and remove rear wheel
  2. remove inner wheel arch liner ease out the liner 3... undo the 2 retaining nuts on the fuel tank filler neck under the arch and firmly pull out of the existing fuel cap.
  3. open fuel flap and slide a thin plastic between the outer body of the car and the black plastic
  4. close the flap and carefully withdraw the old unit.
  5. repeat procedure in reverse to fit the new COOPER S cap.

Hi

do not get the exhaust system. I had to replace mine because of the rust.
If it is slightly rusty ignore it. If you be patient, i believe you can find something very decent for reasonable price. I got cooper original brand new exhaust for 25.

DIY

I will leave the exhaust. Although the auction has ended now anyways. But I have been told my direct line I cannot mod the vehicle as I am under 25 how bad is that? Apparently putting cooper s bumpers on will make it look more aggressive therefore its classed as a mod. Same with the exhaust

Looks like i wil have to stick with things such as petrol filler cap, window tints, front spots and maybe some stripes!

So... back to the subject, anybody know if those petrol filler thigns are easy enough to fit? they are described as an easy 15min job on ebay but I dunno? It involves taking the wheel arch lining off etc.

the wipacs look great! I heard something about fitting them, and from what you just said I take it I need a pop riveter?

And is it hard to wire them? The ones i am looking at on ebay are £70 inc wiring kit! Just worried about how hard they are to fit?

I fitted my own Wipacs they are pretty easy if you have a bit of common sense...

1st cut the holes in the grill if its an Aero grill then mark out were your going to fit the brackets evenly from either side

Then your best off using a relay..

1, Connect a wire from you positive terminal on your battery to terminal 87 on the relay, make sure you have an in-line fuse between the battery and relay!
2, Connect your lights to Terminal 30 on the relay.
3, Terminal 85 is Ground ( i just drilled a small pilot hole on the underside of the bonnet in a suitable place and grounded it there)
4, Now connect a wire from terminal 86 to a switch fitted where ever you like or you can connect it to your main beam positive wire under the hood( which i did) at the back of your lights.

I am pretty sure the set i am looign at getting coems with a relay in thw wiring kit. I am unsure tho as it is £70 for the lights and wiring kit, but i have found wipac lights on their own for £44 inc postage. Anybody know how much a wiring kit is and where i would get one from? Or had i may aswell just buy the complete set for 70quid?

I've had a set of the Hella Spot lamps from the the groupbuy at NewMiniStuff.com

Well chuffed with them. Chrome plastic backed too so no rusting issues for me

Only thing that is worrying me is I have heard yu need a pop riveter for the brackets? But then I have also heard you can use a self tapping screw? hopefully one of you WIPAC users will know?

I used stainless steel nuts & bolts c/w spring washers to hold mine in place although I needed the use of sticky tape to hold the nut on to my finger until i got the 1st threads in!

The Wipac lights are ok but mine are showing spots of rust on the top and they've only been fitted to the car approx 7 x weeks! I might be looking for plastic covered / backed spots if the rust gets any worse.

Remember to fit an in-line fuse.

I ordered (hopefully) better bulbs from New Mini Stuff - will let you know how I get on with them once they are connected.

On the fuel cap issue. DO NOT follow the 'pry the old filler ring out with a covered screwdriver' route. Mucho scratches!!

Cheers aberdeen al that would be great if you can let me know how it goes! I am tempted to use something on the lamps to prevent the rust?

MyMiniTakesMyMoney, have you fitted a filler cap then? Just how easy / hard is it? If i am risking scratching things by fitting as said by the seller, what would be the best way to fit?

from what i been told its a git to do, i think the dealer labour is more than the part its self just coz of the fitting you have to take your rear wheel off and do it from up the arch.

I fitted the filler cap myself (Bought from eBay) - took an hour from start to finish being ultra careful. I did it without removing the wheel - you just have to jack up the car so that the suspension extends to give working room. There are good instructions here:

Aye aye!

Fitted the new "blue" bulbs into my spots yesterday - they make a big difference - the light is more white than the yellow tinged bulbs supplied with the spots.

Would recommend the upgrade - Mike @ NewMiniStuff sorted me out for the upgrade bulbs.
