well..being honest...the result you get with *any* method is down to the guy doing the job!

If you take your time with the dealer-supplied touch up kits you can do a fine job.

Dont apply too much paint...you will end up with a blob. Depending on the size of the repair, use a pin head and not a brush.

I use Langka to finish the job - leaves it nice and in most cases, perfect.

Metalic colours are obviously a bit different due to the use of laquer....

Take your time...and dont use too much...

If you google langka you will find out all about it.

If you have metalic, you may or may not use the laquer depending on the size...

Read up on langka and much will be revealed.

Nail polish comes in hundreds of colors, including many shades of blue. It's very durable, and you may even find an exact match.

Bonnet stripes are normally stickers.

The bonnet stripes should come off without any real problems using a hairdryer and very slowly peel them off. Depending on how long they have been on it might be easy to do or little harder if the vinyl has gone brittle and hard. Remove any glue residue with methylated spirits followed by a good waxing.

Regarding paint chips if you have metallic its best to use the clear laquer as well to seal the new paint. Fortunately I don't have any stone chips on the front of the MINI as I have a clear bra but picked up a nice one on the edge of the bonnet on my Suzuki Swift the other week. If you have a metallic paint like silver it aint easy to match a painted chip to the surrounding paintwork as the new paint will reflect the light in a different way. Silver is probably the worst with a newly painted chip as it usually turns out darker of lighter depending on the angle of the bodywork. Main thing is to cover a chip before it rusts. You could try someone like chipsaway who might do a better job?

hi,
regarding metallic paint if you have a small chip on the bonnet can u simply just use the touch up bottle from mini and let it dry? or do you need to go through some other sort of process?

drumzz - you can just use the touch up kit - the final finish is down to your ability.

The process i suggested just makes it easier to get a professional finish....

Dr Colorchip

Greetings. I recently used Dr Colorchip to touch up my BRG Cooper S and was amazed at the results. It is a bit pricey, but is wonderful if you have a LOT of small chips and even big ones. Application is fast and almost fool-proof (no sanding required!). I just wanted to share this because it usually takes a lot to impress me and I was thrilled with this stuff. Cheers.
