Aeri kit - should I or shouldn't I?

Title says it all!

I have a hyper blue cooper with a white roof, white bonnet stripes, chrome mirror caps and 17" bullets.

Do you reckon it'll look good?

I'm on the verge of deciding, I just need a push! (it's expensive!) Is it worth it?

I've also read some concerns over build quality - filmsy material etc. Any thoughts?

What is the impact on insurance premiums etc?

Any comments most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I take it you mean Aero kit ?

Phone your insurance company 1st to get a quote

Oh yes it's worth it, even if you just get the skirts the the car will look

Full kit will be

I'm sure you'll have no problems with build quality if you get it fitted by a reputable dealer
(mine has been fine)

Welcome to MINI2, I see the modding has begun

...I think even fitting the front bumper sets the car off....

The standard rear S bumper can have its grills painted silver... to get a similar look and save loads of cash...

I have never been bothered or that impressed with the side skirts... each to thier own...

get it done it looks so much better than the standard bumpers and my insurance didnt go up at all they said that they only put the premiums up if i enhance performance or suspension only downside is theyl only cover the old bumpers so if i have a smash ill have to pay the extra ontop of the standard kit to get new aero bumpers

For what it's worth I went the way a lot of mini owners have done and just had the side skirts fitted from the Aero kit, not bothering with the rest, i.e front/back bumpers grill etc. For me, they significantly enhance the look due to the colour coding. Deeper profile if you like and of course they don't have that "third Party" look being in house. This reduces your bill by half.

I do like the front bumper and grill combo from the Aero kit, but am not keen on the back bumper personally. Especially ,when you now can't but help compare it to the 2nd gen Aero kit. Also, "the word on the street" is that the quality of both Areo bumpers is not to the standard of the factory bumpers......this is of course is not conclusive!

On the insurance side....certainly check. I didn't... and found out after the event, that it put a load on my premium by about £80 and of course you'll likely have a mid-term adjustment fee as well. My broker/underwriter didn't see it like feybrands, arguing that if two identical mini's are on a drive, one with and one without side skirts, then statistically, the one with skirts is more likely to get stolen! A certain amount of logic there I'll admit but a money pinching line, nether the less!

Broker...Adrian Flux, underwriter.....Equity RedStar.

Get the full kit. Have a look on my gallery. It only added about £20 to my insurance
