HI all,

just a quick post, I enquired about getting the mini roof rack fitted to my JCW.. got a shock at the labour price! cost for the base unit... 99 quid exluding VAT.. plus 180 pounds for fitting!!!!! said it would take 2hrs.. thats 30mins more than mini states on the web and a labour charge of £90per hour!!

surely thats a bit steep.. or is my memory of bmw/mini labour charges a little old!!

I am aware of the mini roof rack system beign a little expensive, but i have totalled up the system to include bike and ski racks totalling 550quid!!!!

anyone have any other experiences...

The roof bars for the R56 apparently clip to the gutters so no holes in the roof. However, when I tried to order one it turned out not to be available. I am still waiting to see it.

I looked into getting Mini roof bars for my Cooper S and never liked the idea of having to drill holes in my roof to fit the roof bars. I now have a set of THULE roof bars that are made for the Mini and don't require any holes in the roof. I don't think that they cost much more than £150 and are reasonably easy to fit. Using these bars means you can get alot of different fittings for the bars like bike racks, ski racks etc - more than the Mini version. I think Mont Blanc also make a set for the Mini. Hope this helps!
