Offline | Spot Lights Right, I've decided what steering wheel I'm getting (3 spoke sport ) now I have to decide on the spot lights. From what I can tell these ones on ebay look ok, the only thing I'm a little worried about is the size. They say 5 inch, which seems quite large?! eBay.co.uk: BMW MINI SPOT LIGHTS DRIVING LIGHTS, BRACKETS, WIRING (item 270086126283 end time 12-Feb-07 23:39:03 GMT) Do they look the same as the Mini ones? Are they the same size? Or is it worth just paying £140 for the BMW ones? Do I have to get BMW to 'activate' them? Read something about this. Any help would be great as I have Jack booked in for Friday, and at the moment have no parts! Thanks very muchly, James. |

Offline | Hi, I bought a set of these Wipac spots and after a few months they were starting to seriously rust, I'd look at a different set if i was you. Maybe the Hella spots from NewMINIStuff.com I have heard good reviews about them but they are not in a set of 4 |

Offline | Not too keen on the shape of the Hella ones to be honest. Thinking I may go for the Mini ones after all, I have a mechanic friend who will fit them, do BMW have to do anything to them to make them work? |

| Ashes and dust Maximus! | There are kits, namley the ones you buy that aren't from BMW, that come with wire kits that splice into the full beam wires under the bonnet, so you don't have it take it to BMW to be activated. Not sure about the BMW OEM kit. WIPAC do stainless steel ones too which I think are supposed to be more resistant to rust. James |

Offline | The Mini OEM driving lights come with a full wiring harness, this maybe adapted to splice into the main beam wiring but make sure you use the relay and fuse supplied. If you use the complete harness it is quite tricky to install the harness and this will need coding at the dealer, you may need to pay for the coding. The quality of the OEM lights has improved but you will still need to look after them. |
