Offline | Painted Spotlights Hey all (Hangs head in shame having been warned previously) ![]() Spot lights have now rusted beyond that which I consider reasonable. Cannot afford to lay out for more etc but thought about painting them with red smooth hammerite or the like. Also though of having them powder coated. Comments, thoughts or ideas welcome from the people that know. ![]() Cheers BDL |

Offline | I had a lot of rust on my Wipacs today but after using "Bar Keepers Friend" on them they are back to their former glory! My rust was spotted all over the back of the lights but quite dense at the base, the stuff on the back has been totally removed and the majority of it at the base camw off: "The best professional powdered cleanser since 1882. The unique formula in Bar Keepers Friend gently removes stains other cleansers can't. It will even remove rust, and is great for cleaning stainless steel." Bar keepers friend website (American site but the product is available in the UK) Think I got mine in John Lewis, give it a try as I have been using it since I installed my lights nearly a year ago Last edited by Richard82 : Mar 13th, 2007 at 02:06 PM. |

Offline | Good useful thread... I was looking for some spots for mine, I thought that the normal chrome would'nt be up to much and especially where I live, 2 mins from the beach, so a lot of salt in the air. Can anyone recommend a good set of stainless spots, are angel eyes any good?? |

Offline | I have just fitted a set of HELLA COMET 200 last friday and i reckon they are brilliant. They came as a complete set designed for the MINI and are pretty easy to fit and look ace! They have been recommended on previous posts for not rusting like others. I got mine off ebay £124.99 which i think was reasonable as seen advertised elsewhere £200+. |

Offline | I also have the Hella Comet 200, mine have been installed over a year and not a hint of rust. Probably because the chrome back is plastic but still looks good and easy to install. There is a set on EBAY at the moment. eBay.co.uk: BMW MINI HELLA LAMPS COMET 200 (item 280090258404 end time 04-Apr-07 11:17:45 BST) |
