Offline | What colour is your Mini, is it Sparkling Silver? I have a R56 in Sparkling Silver and was thinking of giving the brake calipers a little dress up. Btw, fantastic job on yours, looks great! |

Offline | No it doesn't affect the waranty or anything and the performance of the brakes isnt changed because you only paint the caliper, dont get any paint on the discs or pads Yer its one caliper a day really, you have to paint it, paint it again, leave it for 2 hours before you can put the wheel back on, and then not drive it for 24 hours, so if you have axle stands or 2 jacks, you could do 2 wheels or all 4 a day, but i dnt so its just one a day for me, iv got both fronts done, just need to give one a second coat, ill get more pics up of the side when all 4 are painted Thanks bud, nah its not sparkling silver, its the other one, i cant remember what its called |

Offline | Well, different opinion here. Used to think that way but when I made up my mind and went for it, asked for help from a friend and well, here's how it went: It was about 20 minutes between each coat (I went for 2 coats per caliper). I jacked the car from the front (because that way, if you do it high enough, both the front and rear wheel will end up off the ground), so I did 2 calipers in like an hour or so. After I was done, I left the car standing for like 30 mins to let the paint dry and went home (yes, I also thought it was crazy at the moment but the guy helping me, who BTW owns a little shop, said it was ok, but really, nothing happened!, I was even stuck in traffic for about an hour before getting home afterwards) And here it is, pictures were taken the day after, as soon as I finished cleaning the whole car: PS. Complementing the info regarding the warranty, as long as you don't disassemble the brakes, you really shouldn't have any problems with it, if you do, BMW might say that since you took the pieces apart, that's probably the reason why anything would go wrong. How wide is the hall-way, Napster? |
