Sratch removal

Just brought some second hand S sideskirts for my Cooper off ebay and noticed a small area about size of 50p of reasonably deep scratches to one of them. TBH you would hardly notice them once fitted but i know they are there and the rest of the car is mint. Cant expect everything for £32 but just wondering if anyone has any ideas about covering them up? I did think about a very fine nail file or similar just to smooth off then clean and polish.
Any suggestions would be good,cheers.

Hi Buz999,

Is it the black plastic skirts you have? If so you could try very carefully rubbing over the scratch with the plastic handle of a screwdriver or something similar. You'll need to push quite firmly.
This should push the edges of the scratch together to minimise the appearance of the scratch.
Post us some pics.

Yes it is the black skirts and the idea about the screwdriver handle is genius which i will give a go otherwise you have triggered my brain into thought mode and i may well try a wax crayon to fill them in.

Skirts are in shed at mo and im hoping to sort them at weekend so will post pics then.

Any thoughts still welcome,cheers.
