Hi all.

Juts bought a Mini Cooper S (2002 52) with Aero Kit in grey with black roof. The kit looks fantastic but I can´t help thinking that the car would benfit from having the plastic trim pieces over the wheel arches (and bit on the kit itself) in the body colour.

A brief call to Lohen explained that it would cost me about 1k for the privilege as they would remove everything, sand down, paint everytihng and refit.

I think this is simply too much for just wanting the wheel arches colour coding so was wondering if anyone had any suggestions?

Are the wheel arches ok to paint and could any paint shop do it (I hear that some plastics these days shouldn´t be painted due to flaking)?

Would masking the already painted areas work?

Any thoughts more than welcome!

Hi mab & welcome to MINI2,

Shouldn't be too difficult for any reputable body shop to do, have a ring round for prices, but don't tell them you've been quoted £1000 . I would imagine it would be at least half that. (just a guess).

I had mine done by a local bodyshop near Huddersfield charged me £500

Rich - may I ask whether that was simply painting the non-painted areas or whether they removed the kit, painted everything and refitted?

If the former, any problems at all?

I would imagine the wheel arches need to be removed because they require sanding and priming prior to being painted.
