Help required - cant get spot lights off

Hi All

I'm having difficulty getting my rusty old spot lights off my mini. I'm attempting to change the grill for the aero grill, but having probs getting these damn spots off.

I've got some pictures to explain the problem, but basically I'm unscrewing the nut in the first picture:

But the actual thread inside is turning aswell, as shown in pic 2:

What is the best way of getting these spots off? Is it usually just a case of unscrewing the nut in the first pic?

Cheers for any help
Gav

Well that's my last resort. If the thread is knackered and I can't get them off, then I'll have to cut them off - any advice on cutting them off? What about the brackets holding them to the grill, how did you get them off? They've got some weird allen heads I think.

I just used a hacksaw on the nut
All the brackets I have seen have been pop riveted on so need to be drilled out

Smile spots

I took mine off this past weekend to replace them with new ones and the only way i could find was to drill a small hole the inside and jam the bit in it to stop the bolt from spinning hope this helps

I Had exactly the same problem a few weeks ago,

What i did is take the front lens off as you did cut the wires with enough length to attach them back together the drill the bolt off i then got another bolt machined at work, re-attached the wires and put the new grill on and re-fitted the lamps.

Have you had this sorted yet??????

If not i can possibly get another bolt made for you so you can drill it out!
