Solid Black Bonnet Stipes - Discontinued?

Hi there!

This is my first post having picked up my 04 plate Cooper from a BMW dealer last weekend. This is my first Mini and it's great! It's in Solid Gold with a Black roof.

Anyway, it's booked into my local dealer to have the driving lights and black bonnet stripes fitted tomorrow. However, the dealer rang me yesterday to say that the bonnet stripes are now only available with the white pinstripe and that the solid black ones have been discontinued. I notice that they're in the lastest Accessories brochure and are still listed on the website, so can anyone confirm this or is my dealer talking rubbish? I really would like the solid black ones as there is no white anywhere else on the car. Should I try a different dealer?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,
Mike.

Maybe they have been discontinued, but it sounds to me like your dealer may have ordered the wrong stripes and haven't got time to get the right ones in.

When you take the car in tomorrow tell them to hold off on fitting the stripes, then ring another dealer to see if they can get them.

Whether they have been discontinued or not get an independent vehicle graphics specialist to make you some plain black ones, as they will be cheaper than MINI dealer.

His vinyl is supposedly better than the vinyl used by MINI too.

Thanks for all the advice, folks. I'll think I'll hold off on the stripes for now and see if I can get what I want elsewhere.

Mike - just for your info, our standard black Bonnet stripes are £20 a pair. 8- 10 year vinyl.

Let me know if we can help.

Cheers, Phil

we do give you a fitting guide which is also downloadable from our website.

But basically there is no set rule for position just put the first side on so that you are happy and comfortable with its position and then match the other side copying the measurement.

Hope this helps.
