anybody have a rough idea how much some chili red mirror caps would be if i went and bought them out of the dealers

or would it be cheaper to get a set of plain plastic ones off ebay and get them painted

You should be able to get ordinary chili red ones pretty cheaply as it is not a special colour or design or anything, not like the chequered or union jack ones. I would ask dealers before buying other colours and getting them sprayed, as I would suspect they would be pretty cheap. I think your looking at about £80 for the chequered or u/j ones, and about £70 for the chrome ones, so I would imagine your looking at about £50 or less for ordinary red ones.

A pair of shiney black caps costs £120 from my stealer - I would imagine the red ones are about the same kinda price. Defo have a look on ebay!

Never underestimate the power of MINI2 Classified .. I got myself an immaculate pair of chilli red mirror caps for just £25 from another MINI2 member who had changed to chrome caps!!

Coloured caps are about £59 each!!! but chrome ones are much cheaper ?? Wierd

Really, thats just not logical. Maybe BMW know that lots of people want chrome ones so they lower the price to make sale, but they know that very often people will only want a single colour one due to theirs being smashed off (as most people won't be changing to colour ones like you would to chrome for example), and because you need to get it to match the other one, they can charge what they want?

well i went to the dealer, heres what i was told

you cant order them in body colour, they have to be painted once they come into the dealers, which i think is utter horse poo!

15 quid a piece and then 35 each for the colour coding!

i think not!

You can order them pre painted I have done many times - they are ordered from Germany though

Yep I was quoted £140 inc postage for a set of metalic astro black mirror caps from Woodmans, and they are usualy the cheapest dealers for accesory parts. If you are going to pay dealer prices you might aswel go for the JCW carbon mirrors which they sell for £177

I however managed to get a 3week old pair from a sidewalk converible for £45inc postage from another MINI2'er, who had changed to chrome.
